How to update Honor and Huawei to EMUI 11
There are 2 methods for downloading the update - manual and automatic. Of course, the second method will be the fastest and easiest. But the first one guarantees a more accurate and secure version. Below you can familiarize yourself with each of them in detail.
Update via Wi-Fi
This installation method is made possible using FOTA technologies. To do this, you do not need to use additional devices - a PC cable or anything else. The principle of operation is very simple and does not take much time.
- The first thing you need to do is enter the main settings. This can be done by clicking on the gear on the main screen.
- Next you need to select “System and updates”.
- Then a line called “Software Update”.
- And after that the line “Checking for updates”.
The update occurs automatically. The user only needs to make sure that the device does not turn off while the update is being installed.
Updating using the manual method (downloading a file with firmware)
This option is more difficult; it is suitable for those who were unable to install the update automatically. And if the user has not previously dealt with flashing, then this is not a problem. Another method allows you to manually reflash a device that has problems with the OS - this action will be forced. You just need to remember a few rules. And before using the instructions, you need to do a number of necessary actions.
- All information from the gadget must be saved on a separate medium. By creating an additional copy, the user will protect himself from losing important files. It is necessary to copy important documents, pictures and images onto hotel media. A flash card or “Cloud” is perfect for this.
- Another important condition will be that the device is 100% charged. When charging is in progress, you do not need to touch or discharge the gadget.
- The use of internal memory to save phone data is prohibited. You can only use third-party media – an SD card.
- The file containing the firmware should be named "UPDATE.APP".
- Folders must be launched sequentially, according to the digital designation.
- You also need to make sure that the version is suitable for the OS of this device.
The first step is to prepare the device for the update. To do this, you need to prepare a flash drive (MicroSD), the volume of which must be at least 8 GB. A stock ROM is installed on the card. After which you need to unzip the SD update_Package.tar.gz file. Next comes the download of UPDATE.APP. But before downloading, you need to make sure that the latest drivers are installed on your device. Otherwise, the old drivers will not start. Subsequent steps depend on what type of update the user prefers.
Three types of updates offered by developers:
- Using HiSuite - a specialized add-on that works as a file manager.
- Using a local update - the process occurs using an installation file downloaded from the official website. It simply changes the version to a newer one.
- Forced update - used in a situation where the device is out of order and does not respond to any commands. Or in a situation where the user has limited functionality.
Using HiSuite
This is the most common software for flashing Huawei devices. First, you need to download the add-on to your smartphone, and then update to the desired version. Following actions:
- You need to go to the “For Developer” folder and click on the “USB Debugging” item.
- Next, the software starts on the PC.
- To connect the gadget to a PC, only a standard cable is used.
- In addition, you need to click on the “EMUI ROM” item. A window will open in which you need to select “Download ROM”. And then the new version is downloaded.
- Instructions will be displayed on the screen, following which the update will occur.
- At the final stage, you will need to restart your smartphone. After turning on the gadget, a message indicating successful installation should appear on the display.
Using local update
This method also does not require additional knowledge. For this process you will need a free flash drive of at least 8 GB. The sequence of actions is described below.
- First of all, you need to find the installation file. It is always better to use the official website for this.
- Next, the file corresponding to the phone model must be saved on the device.
- You need to create a separate “dload” folder on the flash drive.
- The previously downloaded distribution should move to this folder.
- Then you need to go to “Settings”.
- Where you select the “System update” item, then “Local”, and then you need to confirm.
- Now all that remains is to wait for the download to complete.
Applying a force update
Sometimes system-related problems appear on the device. In this case, the update is forced. How to do this is described below:
- First you need to download the installation file. It is better to find it on the official website, where it will be virus-free.
- Then you need to unpack the “Update.zip” file.
- Next, you will need to format the flash drive and move the “dload” folder with UPDATE.APP to the folder where the site files are stored (root directory).
- After this, you need to open the dialer in your mobile device and enter the combination *#*#2846579#*#*.
- Then open “Project Menu.
- Here you select the item with software update.
- Next, you need to click on the line “Update SDCard” and confirm the action.
- The last step is to select “UPDate.app” from the root directory. It is used as a source.
- That's all, the update was successful.

What's new in EMUI 12
It’s as if there was a redesign with certain segments of EMUI 12, but only with certain
There aren't that many changes in EMUI 12 At least functional ones. You can read more about them in the review of the new Huawei Nova 8 from AndroidInsider.ru journalist Artyom Sutyagin . I will focus on the most noticeable changes that immediately catch the eye.
Google services and top-end hardware. Will Honor Magic 3 replace Huawei?
- Firstly, Huawei designers slightly redrew the design of EMUI 12 . In some segments of the shell, signs of neomorphism are clearly visible, but not everywhere. Because of this, the impression of some inconsistency is created - as if different teams were working on the same shell or simply abandoned the work halfway.
- Secondly, a section for connecting to Huawei ecosystem devices has been added to the EMUI 12 interface . Now you can simply open Control Center, go to the Device+ tab and connect your smartphone to any of the devices you have at your disposal. These can be computers, tablets, smart watches, headphones, and even household appliances from Huawei partners.
- Thirdly, Huawei has improved its video calling service MeeTime (apparently something between FaceTime and MeToo). Now it allows you to switch a video conference to a Huawei TV and back with almost no delay. This is convenient if you called someone or received a call from your phone, and then you need to display it on the big screen so that it is more convenient for those present to communicate with the interlocutor.
