Installing the Recycle Bin on an Android phone. Setting up the Dumpster application

The Dumpster app is available for free download through the Google Play Store. The link takes you to Google Play, where the full free version of the Dumpster application is available.

The recycle bin on a computer works like this. For example, you delete files and folders by pressing the Del key or selecting Delete from the context menu. Data that you like

erased, they are not actually deleted, but moved to another area of the physical disk. If you don't have enough free space, it's easy to empty the Trash. If this is not done, the files can be recovered within a month or more, depending on the settings and size of the Recycle Bin that the user has specified.

Where is the Recycle Bin located in Android OS? Unfortunately, the phone does not have a Recycle Bin - at least by default. Respectively. If you have deleted files, you can only restore them using special programs, and even then not always.

In the search, enter the word basket , click on the enter button. A list of search results will appear, select the application you like. We liked "Dumster Basket".

Some users who have deleted a particular file from their smartphone often wonder where the recycle bin is located on the device, with which they could restore the deleted file (similar to the Windows operating system). Android doesn't have a recycle bin as such, so if you delete, say, a photo, it's permanently deleted. Of course, you can try to restore it, but for this you at least need root rights.

There are special applications that allow you to send a file to the trash before deleting it. You can install such an application and, if something happens, recover accidentally deleted files. We will show an example on the Samsung Galaxy.

Open Play Market.

In the search, enter the word basket , click on the enter button. A list of search results will appear, select the application you like. We liked "Dumster Basket".

After launching the application, it will need to be granted rights. Provide, otherwise the application will not work correctly.

Now test the application. To do this, open the gallery and delete the image that we do not need, which you are definitely not going to restore.

Open the Dumster Trash app and if you see the deleted image, then the app is working.

To restore it, click on the file and then on the “Restore” button. In this case, the file must be restored in the same directory from which it was deleted. In our example, this is “Gallery”.

Please note that if you use a file manager, it usually deletes files first to the trash. Example - “File Manager +”. Open it, select the file, click “Delete”.

We see a message that the file will be moved to the trash. Click OK.

In the main menu, select “Cart”.

We see our file, select it and decide what to do with it - restore it or delete it forever.

However, not all file managers support such functionality.

To go to temporary storage in the Yandex Drive application, open the start page and expand the main menu in the upper left corner of the screen. From the list presented, select “Cart”.

Finding the Recycle Bin on Android

Unlike Windows and most operating systems, by default there is no “Trash” section on Android, while deleted files disappear from memory without the possibility of recovery. However, despite this feature, some third-party applications still add the necessary folder, which acts as a temporary document storage with the ability to restore and permanently delete. We'll only look at a few options, but there are alternative solutions on the Google Play Store.

Option 1: ES Explorer

ES File Explorer is one of the most popular file managers, providing many features for managing files on your device. Such opportunities also include the “Trash” section, which you can use to restore or delete documents.

  1. To go to the cart in this application, on the main page, click on the menu icon in the upper left corner and find the “Cart” item. It must be activated for future use.

Once enabled, no matter where files are located on the device, they will be moved to the trash when deleted. Tap on the line with the folder name to view the erased files.

Recycle bin management is displayed in the control panel, called up by the ellipsis button and in the menu of each individual file.

Option 2: Dumpster Basket

Unlike ES Explorer, this application, as the name suggests, provides only one function, which is to temporarily store deleted documents. That is why it is enough to install and run the program to get acquainted with all the once deleted files.

Only a few extensions are supported in this case, which makes the first application much more efficient. Moreover, many of the features of the Dumpster Recycle Bin are available for a fee if you purchase the PRO version.

Option 3: Cloud service

Many cloud services designed to store files in the cloud also provide a recycle bin with several options for recovering and permanently deleting files. This applies more to an online service than to a smartphone, but at the same time it allows you to move documents to temporary storage through the main menu of the program.

Yandex Disk

To go to temporary storage in the Yandex Drive application, open the start page and expand the main menu in the upper left corner of the screen. From the list presented, select “Cart”.

After this, a window will be displayed with all the files ever deleted, but only if this program was used. Otherwise, the documents will be permanently deleted, negating the benefits of the Recycle Bin.

Google Drive

The official application for managing the Google cloud service, similar to Yandex Disk, provides automatic file synchronization. For this reason, all documents found on the device and deleted using Google Drive will be moved to the “Trash” section.

You can find the section through the main menu by expanding it in the left corner of the screen and selecting “Cart”. Please note that if there is no synchronization, copies of files from the cloud will be deleted into the trash, not from the device.

Option 4: Google Photos

If you use the official Google Photos application, which is designed to automatically synchronize image and video files on your smartphone with cloud storage, you can also use the recycle bin. As in the situation with cloud services, deleting to the trash is done after synchronization is turned on and only through the main menu of the program.

In this case, the shopping cart is available through the main menu of Google Photos. To view a list of deleted files, select the item of the same name.

In terms of management, the “Cart” in the application is no different from the previously discussed analogues. However, the storage time for files is strictly limited to 60 days.

Option 5: Cart in the Gallery

This method has much in common with the previous one, since it is limited exclusively to graphic files, but at the same time it allows you to access the “Trash” section without installing special applications. You can open the desired folder only on some branded devices like Samsung or Xiaomi. In general, the actions are similar in all cases and boil down to using the standard “Gallery”.

Regardless of the type of application, the cart is located on the main page in the “Gallery Options” section. However, sometimes you need to enable synchronization with cloud storage.

Dumpster

If “ ES Explorer ”, in addition to the recycle bin, offers a collection of third-party functions, then Dumpster does not even try to exchange for additional features, but only keeps erased files in memory for a long time (the period depends on the selected settings). There is an option with automatic cleaning after a specified period of time, a preview function, and at the same time sorting by time, size, and place of recent storage.

The problem with Dumpster is the implementation of available functions: you have to pay for the “ Cart ”: the cost varies and depends on your home region. Therefore, it is first recommended to understand the trial period of 3-5 days, and only then decide whether the ability to use temporary storage before cleaning files is really necessary. If you have to work with files too often and an intermediary definitely wouldn’t hurt, then a subscription is unlikely to become a major problem.

Another option is to remove it using third-party applications like ES Explorer. Download the application. If you have it installed, update to the latest version. We launch the application and see this main page, there is a basket icon on it.

Now in ES Explorer we look for the file to delete. We found an image and will delete it. Click on the file and hold until a check mark appears. At the bottom of the page, click "Delete".

You need to confirm the action. As you can see, by default the “Move to cart” checkbox is checked. Leave it on and click OK.

The file was moved to the Recycle Bin but was not permanently deleted. We return to the main page of the application, go to the trash can and see our file. To restore it or delete it permanently, press and hold it. A check mark will appear on the file, and an additional menu will appear below. In it, select the action that you want to perform with the file.

As you can see, everything is very simple.

You can check - the photo should appear in the main gallery directory. In the same way, you can permanently delete images from the trash.

How to recover photos and videos

If you want to restore a deleted item, check if it is in the Recycle Bin.

  1. Open the Google Photos app on your Android device.
  2. In the top left corner, click on the Trash menu icon.
  3. Touch and hold the item you want to restore.
  4. At the bottom of the screen, click Restore. The photo or video will appear again:
      in the Gallery app on your device;
  5. in the Google Photos library;
  6. in the albums in which it was located before deletion.

If an item is not in the Recycle Bin, it may have been permanently deleted.

Can't find the photo or video you need?

If an item is not in the Recycle Bin, it cannot be restored. This may happen in the following cases:

  • The object was deleted more than 60 days ago.
  • You moved an item to the Trash and then emptied it.
  • You have permanently deleted an item from the Recycle Bin.
  • You permanently deleted an item from the Gallery app without backing it up.

To make finding and restoring photos easier, turn on auto-upload and sync.

Video instruction

If the recycle bin is disabled in your case for some reason, we strongly advise you to enable it immediately. To do this, click on the three dots in the gallery and select “Settings” from the menu.

Find the "Trash" item and turn it on.

Now, after deleting, images will be moved to the trash, rather than being permanently deleted.

In the Windows operating system, files can always be restored from the Recycle Bin, but Android does not have such a feature.

Install recycle bin in android

You have the opportunity to add a “trash can” to Android, from which you can recover accidentally deleted files in an instant.

The trash folder can be added through the Russian language trash container application - Dumpster.

NOTE: the pictures were taken on a Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 6.0.1.

This program (I don’t give a link, it’s on the play market) will intercept all deleted files in Android and then put them in the trash.

These files can be viewed, deleted or restored. Using the Dumpster app is very easy.

When you first launch the program, you will be asked what data should be intercepted and trashed.

I recommend selecting all. Only if you install and uninstall them a lot, then over time there may be no free space left on your phone or tablet.

As with Mi Cloud, you need to keep synchronization with Google Drive cloud storage enabled.

Google Photo Bin

When the Google Photos application is installed on your smartphone (usually included in the standard set of pre-installed programs), all copies of photos are automatically moved to storage.

To go to the cart, just use the application and click on the appropriate item in the context menu. To ensure trouble-free access to information, you should pay attention to ensure that the synchronization option with Google Drive is always turned on.

Compared to using the MIUI gallery, the Google application has several advantages:

  • The ability to manage photos from any gadget with Internet access;
  • By default, the owner is given more space to store his information.

Local Recycle Bin on Xiaomi smartphones

To protect against accidental deletion of files locally, without an Internet connection, you will need the Dumpster application.

The program creates local storage on your phone, where it stores deleted files for a user-specified number of days.

The paid version includes synchronization with the service's cloud storage.

The Dumpster app runs in the background. On Android 7.1 and higher, you can turn it on and off with one button in the usual quick settings menu (top retractable curtain).

Hi all! Users who have previously interacted with a computer on the Windows operating system are familiar with an interface such as the recycle bin. This section contained files deleted by the user on the computer. When almost every person has a smartphone, the question arises: where is the recycle bin on Android? - Let's figure it out together.

Where is the basket located?

The fact is that Windows and Android are fundamentally different systems, and the presence of one option does not mean its presence by default in the other. Smartphone manufacturers in their own add-ons, and even the developers of the multi-mobile OS themselves, do not install such an option as a shopping cart on Android.

But where there is demand, supply also appears in the form of third-party applications that allow this very basket to appear on the device. Also, the advanced technology giant did not ignore this need by placing a “Trash” section in the Samsung phone. Now, if a photo is deleted from the gallery, it is not completely deleted, but is first placed in the trash.

If your smartphone manufacturer does not provide this option, you can expand it using some applications.

Owners of smartphones who have deleted photos, videos or other content often ask where the recycle bin is located on a Samsung phone. They expect that a deleted file can be recovered using the same principle as in the Windows operating system. This opinion is wrong. Samsung phones with Android do not have a shopping cart. Although, there are nuances here too.

Recovering Deleted Files

To return data to your smartphone, you must:

  1. Open the Recycle Bin with deleted files.

  1. Tag the image.

  1. Click on “Restore”.

The path to the trash can differ slightly in different versions of Android, but it is always located in the “Gallery”. For users who frequently download and delete audio, books, and other types of data, it is better to install a separate file management application.

Additional Applications

The question of where the trash can is located in a Samsung Galaxy phone cannot be called hopeless. If you wish, you can download and install one of the many utilities that can replace such a useful folder. Let's highlight several options:

  • Recycle Bin is another analogue of the PC “trash can” for a Samsung phone. Thanks to this program, the “trash bin” is always at hand. You can throw away the excess and immediately restore it if required. The advantages of the program are maintaining confidentiality, deleting and restoring with one click, and working in the background.
  • Recycle Master: Cart. Another utility that allows you to recover deleted data. After installing the software, the trash bin on your Samsung phone is just one click away. Features: Password lock, automatic cleanup, backup and instant recovery. The program is easy to use and is considered one of the best for Samsung phones.

Before viewing the recycle bin on your Samsung phone, log into any of the above applications (depending on the user’s choice). All deleted information remains there until the owner of the smartphone decides to return it or completely destroy it. Perhaps in the future, Android developers will add a built-in Trash function, but for now we have to limit ourselves to third-party applications.
