  • From the menu go to “Settings”;
  • Select the “Language...” tab (in older editions it may be called “Keyboard”);

or like this:

  • Next, we go to the input method that we selected earlier and in its options you need to activate “Auto correction”, “Text correction” - depends on the version of Android and the installed keyboard.

Possible problems

The T9 firmware may be missing. The reason for the lack of additional input functions on some models is confusing. Similar incidents can occur on the M3 and M6 models . The problem may be a software issue. Due to new updates to the Flyme OS shell, your smartphone may not only change its appearance, but also lose its usual settings.

What to do if T9 does not work on Meiza M5s

Due to a software glitch, the virtual keyboard may disappear from the screen. First of all, you need to restart your smartphone.

If this does not help, you can download any other keyboard. When none of the options helps, you should restore the device to factory settings or reflash the device.

Is there T9 on smartphones from Meizu?

Speed dial technology (smart type) began to be introduced in the last millennium. The first successful attempts took place in 1999. The T9 mode was adapted to the Russian language only in 2004. Subsequently, each mobile device was equipped with dictionaries for speed dialing.

Modern smartphones with full-fledged operating systems have a smarter system for quickly selecting words than was the case 10-15 years ago. The word is selected not only from the first characters entered, but also from the meaning of the sentence. This greatly reduces the chance of error. Meizu's phones do not lag behind others in this regard, and T9 dictionaries are easily enabled and configured on any manufacturer's device.

How to install Smart Keyboard on your smartphone

Oddly enough, on many users’ devices the ability to input using T9 may not be available at all. If you are one of these users, we suggest you install the Smart Keyboard application on your phone. This is an excellent alternative to standard input panels and T9 technology. Here the dictionary is much more extensive, T9 technology recognizes words more correctly as you type, and works several times faster. When typing texts in various applications on Android, you will no longer have any problems.

Is T9 still not working correctly? There is an exit! You can additionally download a dictionary for T9 from the Google Play service. These are huge databases that don’t weigh much, but they allow you to correctly enter all words and phrases when typing. In the search, enter the request “Download dictionary” or “T9 Dictionary” and the system will give you a huge list of dictionaries from different developers.

Russian Keyboard app

On some firmware there is no way to activate T9 at all. Then you need to use an alternative option and resort to installing an additional application. It's called Russian Keyboard. If you don't know how to install it, we will help you figure it out.

  1. Login to Google Play using your account information.
  2. Enter the name “Russian Keyboard” in the application search.
  3. We agree to download the application to your phone.

When the download is complete, go to “Settings”, selecting “Language and keyboard” there. Then by default we set the use of the Russian Keyboard application. Next, specify the Russian keyboard in the “Input Methods” menu. Immediately after this, all texts will be automatically typed in this way.

Instructions for turning on T9

On Meizu M5, turning on T9 is quite simple, however, before doing this, we will first understand the problem itself, why this function is not activated by default. The fact is that all the latest Meizu smartphones work using their proprietary Flyme shell. First of all, these devices are created for the Chinese market, as everyone knows, the Chinese language is very complex and no one uses speed dialing there, so this function is not activated initially.

When selling Meizu smartphones with us, T9 is also not activated by default. For this reason, you need to enable the mode yourself, but due to the shell, this can be a difficult process for new users, since the interface has been redesigned compared to standard Android almost beyond recognition.

So, to make T9 on Meizu M5, you need:

  1. Go to “Settings” of your smartphone.
  2. Scroll down a little and there will be a line “Language, time, keyboard”, you need to press it.
  3. Next, click on the “TouchPal Application” item.
  4. In the application itself, turn on “Settings” again.
  5. In the open menu, select “Smart input”.
  6. The last thing to do is to check the box next to the word Prediction.

After these steps, T9 will be turned on.

Smart Keyboard app

One of the alternatives to T9 is the Smart Keyboard program. This is a great option if you have lost your T9 system, but really want to use predictive text input. Moreover, here the dictionary is more extensive and there is a more correct recognition of words when entering. And the application works faster.

The principle of operation in this case is exactly the same as in the previous case. Through Google Play, download the program and install it. Through the settings, we set Smart Key as the main program for entering text. Problems when typing text from this moment disappear once and for all.

Enable T9 mode in Flyme OS

It is very easy to enable T9 mode yourself. In most Meizu smartphone models, all the necessary parameters are available in the system settings window.

For other gadgets, you need to download a simple utility from the application store. The whole process will take no more than 3 minutes.

To turn on T9, follow the instructions:

  • Open the system settings window;
  • Next, scroll down the page and click on the “Language, Time, Keyboard” field;
  • Find "TouchPal" and click on it.
    Please note that there are versions of Flyme firmware that do not have the pre-installed TouchPal option (a utility for setting up a standard keyboard in Flyme OS), so you need to download the utility to work with this technology yourself from the store. Link to the program page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cootek.smartinputv5&hl=ru ;
  • In the setup utility window, select the “Enable TouchPal” field and in the “Select an input method” window that appears, also select “TouchPal”. This will allow the system keyboard to appear with more customization options.
  • Click on “Install” to apply the settings;
  • After reopening the operating system settings, the TouchPal settings window will appear in the Input, Languages, Keyboard window. For the T9 mode to appear in the system with hints and automatic spelling correction, add all the languages you need through the settings window, then restart the phone and open the keyboard window in any program;
  • Start typing and a list of “predicted” words you want to type will appear in the top bar. Click on the correct clue
    to have the word added to the message.

How to install Play Market and Google services on Meizu M5, M5S and M5 Note

If you buy Meizu smartphones on Chinese trading platforms, there is a chance that you will receive a Chinese version of the device, or rather with Chinese firmware. This phone has its own built-in local application store, but does not have the Google Play we are used to.

There is nothing wrong with this, especially since it is easy to fix. To install the app store and other Google services on your M5, M5S or M5 Note, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  • open the notification shade
  • click on the Wi-Fi icon and connect to the network
  • open the Meizu AppCenter store
  • Type “Google Installer” into the search bar
  • The icon of this application consists of 4 multi-colored squares and the letter “G”
  • click Install
  • After installation, open the application and run the installation
  • After the installation is complete, find on the Google Play home screen
  • Google settings and services have been successfully installed on your phone

Also pay attention to the instructions for installing Google services that we published on Galagram:

Enable via phone settings

The easiest way in this case is to work through the settings of your phone. More specifically, it is necessary to use T9 on-off. However, you should understand that not all phones can activate this function in this way. So, the algorithm of actions looks like this:

  1. Go to the “Settings” menu.
  2. Select the “Language and Input” section.
  3. Your machine's keyboard is displayed. In our case, the Meizu keyboard should be displayed.
  4. Select this item, and in the tab that appears, click on “Intelligent input”.
  5. Here again a list of available options will appear, among which you must select “T9 Mode”.

By clicking on it, you can either enable or disable text input using the intelligent hint system.

How to turn t9 on and off on Android?

It would seem, who and why might need to disable T9 mode? Almost always it works correctly and does not make significant errors when identifying words. However, as practice shows, in some cases T9 can interfere with comfortable work. For example, if the user is typing text on a tablet computer screen with a large diagonal or requires entering certain words (for example, when typing texts with technical content). In such cases, T9 can be removed.

How to disable T9 on Android? It's simple:

  1. First of all, open your phone settings.
  2. Go to the “Language and Input” submenu and find among the options the settings for the keyboard you are using. For example – “Xperia Keyboard” or “HTC Keyboard”.
  3. Having selected the desired keyboard in the list, go to the “Smart Typing” tab.
  4. In the dial settings, find “T9 Mode” and deactivate it.

That's all. If you need to re-enable the mode, you can do this using the same method.

Important! If there is no option to disable T9 in the keyboard settings, you can get rid of it only by installing a new keyboard and customizing it according to your requirements.

Unfortunately, not all device manufacturers allow the user to independently disable predictive input on Android. Most often, such “surprises” are characteristic of some devices from Chinese developers.

In the video you can see how this is done on Samsung and Meizu devices.
