How to take a screenshot on an Androin, IOS, Windows Phone tablet?

Taking a screenshot on Android tablets

Taking a screenshot on Android OS is not difficult. There are several ways:

  • built-in system tool;
  • established gestures;
  • device buttons;
  • additional applications.

Often, the built-in options are enough to take a photo. It simply doesn’t make sense to use different software, since modern tablets and smartphones allow you not only to take a screenshot, but also to edit it, changing it in any way possible using a standard photo editor.

This also applies to Irbis or, for example, Digma tablets. Since both devices run on Android, they have the same built-in tools and the ability to take advantage of additional software.

The tool responsible for taking screenshots on Android devices is the same for both tablets and smartphones. The user can add individual gestures using the system settings.

Standard methods

There are several ways in which you can take a screenshot on any Android device, for example, Lenovo. Since all systems of this type work with the same settings, one of the methods below will probably work.

Available options:

  • using the built-in tool, which is available on both tablets and smartphones through the quick access menu (called with a top-down gesture);

  • using button combinations - hold down the lock button on the “Home” (mainly on Samsung models) or “Home” and “Back” located nearby;
  • “Palm screenshot” gesture — move the edge of your palm across the screen from left to right or vice versa (works on older devices);
  • Another gesture is to swipe down the screen with three fingers (works on Xiaomi with the latest OS versions).

The combination of button presses may differ depending on the phone model and the version of the current operating system. On the oldest devices, this function may not be available at all.

Additional software

Since all such applications work on the same principle, differing only in the set of functions, it makes no sense to consider several. Let us mention one of the most popular according to user ratings.

“Screenshot Pro” allows you not only to take a screenshot, but also:

  • highlight a specific area without capturing unnecessary details;

  • write on the screenshot and edit it with standard photo editor tools (cropping, changing the color of the signature by hand or with text, etc.);
  • select a folder to save the image;
  • cancel the operation while the file is being created.

To start working with the application, you must click “Start Capture”.

As mentioned above, the latest versions of the OS allow you to do the same using internal tools. It makes sense to use additional software if for some reason the internal options do not work.

Screenshot, what is it for?

The need to take a snapshot (screenshot) of the tablet screen will come in handy, quickly save a photo or an entire page that you liked on some interesting site, explain to your friend how you quickly completed the game, send a presentation that you just made on the tablet using Microsoft World etc.

Creating a screenshot on the screen of your gadget, on different devices running different operating systems, differs from each other by pressing different combinations of buttons.

Taking a screenshot on a WP tablet

Devices running the Windows Phone operating system can also take a screenshot. This function is implemented using keyboard shortcuts. Since these smartphones are somewhat different from Android phones, taking a screenshot on them may seem inconvenient to users who are used to other OSes.

Standard methods

There are two key combinations:

  • “Home” + phone power button;
  • power button + volume up (“+”).

Additional software

There are also applications for Windows Phone that can be used to capture the screen, but they offer a minimal set of capabilities, so there is little point in using them.

For example:

  • Quick Capture is a simple screen capture tool available in the Microsoft Store for both mobile devices and tablets or PCs.

  • Screen Capture is another simple utility that offers the same functionality as its predecessor. Suitable for Windows Phone 7.8 OS.

Where to find screenshots

It also happens that the user, having taken a photo, cannot find it. There are different reasons. For example, a screenshot of a tablet or phone based on Android OS was taken, but it turned out to be unsuccessful, crooked, or simply no longer needed by the user. It’s natural to find out how to delete a screenshot so that it doesn’t take up space on your device. Or you need to find this photo, edit it, look at it again, send it to another user, etc.

You need to find out where they are saved and where they can be found.

There are several options here.

  • Conductor. Using the built-in explorer or one of the popular applications, you can easily get to the location where screenshots are saved. Typically, in the settings, the user can choose between internal memory and a memory card. In this case, you usually need to open a folder with images, and it already contains a subdirectory “Screenshots”, “Screenshots” or another corresponding section.
  • Gallery. Most often, the user follows the standard path. To get to the screenshots, you need to open the “Gallery” and here go to the “Screenshots” or “Screenshots” section. The name of the folder depends directly on the tablet manufacturer and the version of the mobile operating system.
  • Cloud. Also often, to save space, as well as in order to save images in the event of a flash drive failure or accidental deletion of pictures from the device, users synchronize the gallery with cloud storage. Therefore, pictures are automatically sent to the cloud, where they can be easily found. All you need is Internet access.

Users usually have no problems taking screenshots on tablets. In rare cases, a special folder may be accidentally deleted. But it's easy to fix the situation. Just create a new Screenshots folder in the required section, and everything should work. Plus, we cannot rule out the possibility that the tablet will run out of memory. Then the device will not allow you to create new pictures until space is freed up.

Android version

All options described above are designed for devices that run Android 4.1. If we talk about devices for Android 2.x/1.x, then they do not have their own means for “capturing” the screen. No combinations of buttons have been thought out. The only way out is to download a special utility from Google’s Play Market.

Products running Android 3.2 have a different trick. To create a screenshot of them, you need to click on “Recent Programs”.

Where is the taken screenshot saved?

After you have completed the previous step, a very reasonable question arises: where can you find the image you just created? After all, the tablet must save a photo of the display somewhere for future use.

Let's look at the example of an HTC device. There are several options for how to access this image:

  • The first and simplest option is that the image can be found among other photos in the Gallery application. There it can be rotated, cropped and processed, and after that it can be sent through many different applications.
  • The second option, suitable for users who are confident in the Android environment, is to gain access through the file system. You can find a photo by opening “Explorer” and selecting the “Photo” section in it. Having found the file you are looking for in this way, you have the opportunity to perform various operations with it, for example, copying, viewing information about its size and creation date, editing and deleting.
  • The third, most difficult way is to gain access not through “Photos” or “Gallery”, but using various file managers. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that this method should be used if you are fully aware of the consequences that various actions may entail. After all, by accidentally deleting some important system file, you can get many problems with the device.

On most devices, all screenshots are saved in a separate folder located at the path “sdcard/Pictures/Screenshots/”. On dexp, HTC and many other devices, pictures are stored in this directory.

Online services

If you have Internet access, you can use the online service. For example, PasteNow.ru allows you to paste a screenshot in a few clicks. To do this you need:

  1. Take a screenshot of the screen using the PrtSc key or the active window using the Alt+PrtSc combination. The photo will be saved to the clipboard.
  2. Go to the service website. You can paste an image stored in the buffer using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.
  3. After a short download, the screenshot taken will appear in the window. Above it will be a link to the image stored on the server.
  4. To insert a screenshot into a message, you need to copy the URL provided by the site and paste it into the conversation.

There are many alternatives to this online service. At the same time, an unused screen is stored on the server for up to 6 months. If you need to save it on your computer, you need to right-click on the image in the browser and select the actions to save the image.

If none of the methods work

If you can't take a screenshot, try holding the buttons longer. Don't forget: the buttons must be pressed at the same time

. If you are taking a screenshot for the first time, it may only work the third or fourth time.

If none of the methods work, then:

  • The smartphone or tablet was made by another manufacturer. To learn how to take a screenshot, contact your device manufacturer for assistance;
  • The smartphone or tablet has non-original firmware installed. To take screenshots, contact a Samsung service center to change the firmware.
  • This device is a fake. Many functions of original devices do not work on fakes.

Lately, users of both smartphones and tablets often have questions: “How to take a screenshot on a phone?”, and, accordingly, “How to take a screenshot on a tablet?” It is with the aim of helping to solve this problem that this article was written.

After reading it, you will be able to make a screenshot yourself on fly, HTC, digma, dexp and any other models. Several options will be considered on how to photograph the screen on Android.

How to take a screenshot on an iPad tablet

Well, perhaps the easiest way of all the above to create a screenshot is, of course, from Apple. It’s all just a central button to go to the menu + a lock button, and your created screen will automatically go to the folder with photos created by the camera.

After creating the screen, an information window will appear with information or confirmation of the operation. If key combinations do not help you take the desired photo, then use special programs that can be found in the Marketa store. Enter the keyword “screen” in the search bar and select the application that suits you. Now you know how to take a screenshot on a tablet, regardless of the configuration of the gadget.

Additional software

As with other devices, a screenshot can be taken using the application. For example, “Screenshot Editor” allows you to:

  • take pictures;
  • edit and “glue” files;
  • create long screenshots without breaking the overall picture, for example, a web page.

iOS apps work on the same principle as any software for Android devices. But it is often quite difficult to find a good free tool for the iPad.

Taking a photo is easy on any device, no matter what operating system it runs on. You can use keyboard shortcuts, built-in tools, and third-party apps to do this. In terms of convenience and practicality, Android devices offer the most comprehensive functionality for screen capture and file editing.

Keyboard shortcut

Device owners often don’t know how to take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy. Photographing the current state of the smartphone screen is carried out in many ways, the first and simplest of which is by pressing several keys.

Home + Power buttons

The presented combination is used for early Galaxy models, as well as intermediate representatives of the line - S7 Edge, S8, S6. This is done as follows:

  1. Open the required application or settings mode (the picture that should be captured).
  2. Disable widgets, helper lines, advertising (optional).
  3. Press and hold two keys: “Home” + “Screen Power” for a couple of seconds.

  1. A short screen flash, a sound signal, and a message on the status bar will serve as indicators that the screenshot has been successfully saved.

Power + Volume Down buttons

It is also possible to take a screenshot on the Samsung Galaxy Mini and other models of the line using a different key combination. The second method becomes relevant if the option discussed above did not bring the desired result - the phone did not respond to the command.

  1. Make the screen ready for use - disable widgets, remove unnecessary shortcuts.
  2. Press “Power” + “Volume Down” at the same time.
  3. You need to hold the buttons for no more than three seconds.

  1. Successful generation of a screenshot is accompanied by a visual and auditory notification.

Home + Back buttons

A number of models released before 2021 accept a different key combination. To make a screenshot, you need to:

  1. Prepare the screen.
  2. Press “Home” + “Back”, holding the combination for 1-2 seconds.

Palm edge gesture

The Korean manufacturer is actively introducing new functions that allow the user to take a screenshot from the screen on Samsung. It is not always convenient to press the required buttons at the same time, so new features have appeared - one-touch screen, gesture control. Current models offer to take a photo of the display by performing a simple movement - swipe the edge across the touchscreen from left to right. The user is free to choose a different direction of movement - there are no strict restrictions.

An interface that supports gestures must be configured before actual use. This is done like this:

  1. Open the phone menu.
  2. Go to "Settings".
  3. The required section may have different names. The name must include the phrase “Gesture Control”. Select this item.
  4. Activate the “Take a picture with your palm” function by checking the box or moving the slider.

Now the gesture recognition system works fully - you can take a screenshot of the Samsung screen. All you have to do is run the edge of your palm across the display. Successful creation of a screenshot is accompanied by an alert.

This function is not available to owners of budget models (Grand Duos, Neo).

Can't take a screenshot

If you can’t take a screenshot on your tablet, you can try holding down the buttons for a longer period and be sure to do this at the same time. It may not work out the first time.

In the case where no method is suitable, this may mean the following:

  • You need to find out from the manufacturer of your tablet how this is done, because it can be done in a completely different way.
  • Pirated firmware installed.
  • The tablet is fake.

Long iOS screenshots using third-party apps

The Tailor program comes to the rescue.

After opening, you need to allow her access to media files. Then follows:

  • Create several pictures in the standard way (each subsequent one should be a continuation of the previous one);
  • Upload a photo to Tailor (the application will combine several photos into one);
  • Click “Save”:

This method is suitable for users of smartphones and tablets with Android OS version 4.0 and higher (4.0; 4.1; 4.2; 4.3; 4.4; 5.0).

To do this you will need:

  1. Computer with Windows OS;
  2. Install Android drivers;
  3. Enable “USB Debugging”;
  4. Download the ADB RUN program;
  5. MicroUSB cable.

How to screenshot the screen using hardware buttons?

Sometimes the ability to use the icon in the retractable “curtain” is absent or is not the most convenient option at this moment. Then the opportunity that the manufacturers themselves put into their devices comes to the rescue. You can take a screenshot on fly, Sony, Philips, Huawei, HTC and on tablets from almost all well-known manufacturers using hardware. It is possible to create a snapshot of the display by pressing a simple combination of several keys.

So, what keys do you need to press in order to take a screenshot from your desktop?

  • The combination that is used most often is to simultaneously press the volume buttons (increase or, conversely, decrease) of the device and the key responsible for turning the power on and off. The effect caused by this combination will be identical to pressing an item in the tablet’s slide-out menu, and the screenshot will be saved in the same place - in the “Gallery” or the tablet’s file system.
  • Another common combination is to simultaneously press one of the volume buttons along with the “Menu” key. This option is often used in Alcatel, Philips, Fly and Asus tablets. The result caused by pressing these keys is completely identical to the previous point.
  • On HTC devices, the method is slightly different: you can save a photo here by holding down the power key and touching the Home touch button.
  • On tablets manufactured by Samsung, a screenshot of the display is taken with just the “Home” key.
  • If you have a device equipped with a Windows system, then the required key combination for you will be to hold down the lock and start buttons.
  • Users of Apple products are also lucky: a copy of the screen image is obtained by pressing the lock key, and at the same time the button to go to the menu.
