The recommended price for Honor 7A Pro in the 16/2 GB version is currently 8,990 rubles.

The smartphone received the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with the proprietary EMUI 8.0 shell.

Display, battery and communication

An elongated screen is a rarity among budget devices, but some Chinese manufacturers still manage to make such smartphones for 5-7 thousand rubles. Huawei also did not stand aside and made its own device.

The screen size of the Honor 7A Pro is decent - 5.7 inches. It fits perfectly into devices made in 18:9 format. HD+ resolution (1440×720 px). There are 282 pixels per inch of display. In addition, an IPS matrix is installed here. The touch screen can accept up to 10 touches simultaneously.

The Chinese device has a non-removable battery with average parameters - 3000 mAh. The studies confirmed that the Chinese company has perfectly optimized the software, increasing the operating time of the device without recharging. So, during normal use it lasts for 24 hours at maximum display brightness. In HD video viewing mode, the device operates for 5-7 hours. If you play games, the device will run out in about 5 hours. It is worth noting that five hours of gaming is a decent result; most competitors are discharged after 2.5-4 hours of use.

As for communication functions, it works in a smartphone in GSM, UMTS, 4G LTE networks . SIM card format is nano. Everything else is practically no different from competitors: WI-FI, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0. Navigation: A-GPS, regular GPS and Glonass. The manufacturer does not indicate, but the Chinese navigation system called “BeiDou” is also supported. However, the Russian buyer has no use for it. Navigation works accurately, it “sees” about 5 satellites indoors, and 15 outdoors.

Screen

The smartphone is equipped with a 5.7-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1440*720 pixels and a pixel density of 283 ppi. Theorists may complain that HD resolution is not enough for such a large display, but in practice things are fine, pixelation is not noticeable even with a detailed study of the picture. There are no complaints not only about detail, but also about color rendition - the shades are rich and natural, the brightness reserve is enough for comfortable use of the smartphone in any conditions.

The software allows you to activate the eye protection mode (blue light filter) or program it to turn on according to a given schedule, as well as adjust the white balance.

Performance

The performance of Honor 7A Pro is ensured by an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with a Qualcomm Adreno 505 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, permanent memory is 16 GB, and MicroSDXC memory cards up to 256 GB are supported.

The Honor 7A Pro's results in synthetic tests are standard for devices with similar hardware. In AnTuTu he scores 58.5 thousand points, but in games the situation is controversial. World of Tanks at low settings has a comfortable 35 fps and above, while the heavier Injustice 2 sags below 25 fps even on minimum graphics and playing in such a set of frames is simply not pleasant. So it’s difficult to call the 7A Pro a gaming smartphone.

Iron

Unlike the vast majority of its devices, this brainchild of Huawei did not receive a processor of its own production, but a brand new 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 (versus the Snapdragon 430 of the 7C), created using a 14 nm process technology. It was accompanied by the Adreno 506 . They included a comfortable 3 GB , and they didn’t skimp on permanent memory: the 32 GB can be further expanded by another 256 GB using a memory card.

The modest screen resolution of this smartphone is in some ways even beneficial: since the processor does not spend a lot of resources on rendering, it runs almost any “heavy” toy, such as PUBG, Asphalt or WoT Blitz (at minimum settings, of course), without any throttling. The device feels comfortable at 60 FPS. However, this is definitely not a gaming smartphone - the picture will not appeal to keen gamers.

Honor 7C Pro shows decent results in all kinds of benchmarks - for the mid-price segment.

The device is equipped with a fairly fast fingerprint sensor and recognizes up to 5 fingerprints. At the same time as this protective measure, Face Unlock is used, which almost always works without problems, except that the system does not cope well with dark rooms and does not always “recognize” the owner if he puts his face at an angle very far from 90°.

Camera

The main camera has a resolution of 13 MP, there is an LED flash. During the day, Honor 7A Pro takes good photographs, producing detailed photos with correct color rendition in ideal lighting conditions. Also pleasing are the pictures taken in artificial light, in a room where the correct color is maintained and adequate noise reduction is observed. In the evening, the smartphone is expected to lack stars from the sky, shooting at the level of other budget devices.

The resolution of the front camera is 8 MP, its autofocus is fixed, but there is a flash.

Honor 7A Pro records video with FullHD resolution and a frame rate of 30 fps. Image stabilization is lacking, but the picture itself is quite clear.

Honor 20 Pro camera review

The key difference between the Honor 20 Pro and the standard version of the flagship is the main camera. It also consists of four lenses, but all modules are used for business - there are no useless depth sensors here.

The 48 MP main module is represented by the flagship Sony IMX 586 sensor, it has optical stabilization and optics with an outstanding f/1.4 aperture, which together provides excellent results when shooting in low light conditions.

Left - Honor 20, right - Honor 20 Pro

The second camera is an 8MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 80mm equivalent focal length that offers 3x optical zoom or 5x hybrid zoom. The telephoto is also equipped with an optical stabilization system.

The third module is a 16 megapixel camera for wide-angle shots, but unlike the first two, it does not have OIS or autofocus. And finally, the fourth lens is a 2 MP macro camera that has a fixed focus at a distance of 4 cm.

Photos taken with the Honor 20 Pro during the day look great. They are sharp, have natural color reproduction and a wide dynamic range. It is better to use the main camera in standard 12 MP mode. Increasing the resolution to 48 MP does not provide a noticeable increase in detail, and the amount of digital noise increases even with ideal lighting.

Examples of 12 MP photos:

The inclusion of AI algorithms leads to an increase in contrast and saturation; such pictures can be posted on social networks without any processing.

In low light, the Honor 20 Pro is also very good. The presence of optical stabilization minimizes the problem of blurry pictures and fully reveals the night mode, which, when activated, improves the clarity and dynamic range of photographs.

The results of the telephoto lens at 3x optical zoom during the day are not very different from the pictures taken with the main camera. The photos are also pleasing with wide pixel resolution and natural color reproduction, and even 5x zoom looks quite good on the phone screen.

Telephoto also greatly benefits from night mode, which allows you to get much more detail and reduce noise levels. The presence of OIS is very helpful here.

The ultra-wide-angle camera of the Honor 20 Pro is slightly inferior to the other modules; its images differ slightly in color rendition, and comparable sharpness is achieved through aggressive software sharpening. But in general, the width is not bad, and in terms of the quality of daytime photos it can be compared with that of the Huawei P30.

You can take normal photos with a wide-angle camera at night, but the lack of stabilization and fixed focus affect the final result.

The Honor 20 Pro is surprisingly good at shooting in portrait mode; the pictures are pleasing with natural skin color, detail and the right bokeh effect.

The same applies to selfies with the front camera. It can also blur the background, but errors in the contours of the object are more common here, especially when separating hair from the background.

What's not impressive is the macro camera, which is just as useless here as in the regular Honor 20. Close-up photos taken with a telephoto camera with 3x zoom look better than photos with a macro module, both in terms of detail, as well as in contrast and color rendition.

Honor 20 Pro can record video in 4K/30fps and 1080p/60fps; all three main cameras shoot in 4K. During the day, the videos look great; thanks to optical stabilization, the picture is smooth, with a good dynamic range, rich colors and no visible noise.

At night, the best result can be obtained when shooting FHD/60fps, since in UHD the picture noticeably doubles when moving. The sound recording quality and autofocus performance are good regardless of the shooting conditions.

Speaker, sound quality

The speaker of the smartphone pleasantly surprised us. Despite the fact that there is no stereo sound here, it turned out to be very loud - if you turn the slider to the maximum level in the room, the sound literally begins to “hit your ears.” The quality is also good, it is not flat, without a metallic tint, there is even a hint of low frequencies.

Honor 7A Pro has a standard 3.5 mm audio jack, so listening to music on headphones will not be accompanied by additional inconvenience.

Communication and Internet

Honor 7A Pro supports dual SIM cards, LTE communication is available from both slots. The smartphone holds the operator's signal well; there were no problems with communication during testing of the device.

All wireless interfaces - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS navigation also work without any complaints. An indisputable plus is full support for two SIM cards and a memory card, the slot is separate, so you don’t have to make any compromises.

general information

Honor 7A Pro is one of the most affordable smartphones with a FullView display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9. This decision allowed us to consolidate our position in the budget niche. By developing inexpensive devices, the company forces competitors to do the same thing, which benefits ordinary consumers.

Among the characteristics, it is especially worth highlighting the processor from Qualcomm, a large screen, aspect ratio, a good battery and other interesting features that are more related to software. A clear advantage is that there are separate slots for SIM cards and microSD. You rarely see such a solution among budget devices.

The characteristics of the Honor 7 A Pro phone are designed for those who want to get quality products for little money. Today, the average price for a smartphone fluctuates around 8 thousand rubles. The device comes with instructions, a charger and a paper clip.
