According to a study by specialists, .apk applications on Android for obtaining root rights are inferior to similar software for obtaining root using a computer (exe applications for Windows). The experiment was carried out on Huawei Y5C Y541-U02 .
We recommend that you get root rights in 1 click using Rootkhp Pro
According to company analysts, .apk applications such as Towelroot , Kingoapp, Baidu, Framaroot and others will be forced out of the software market, following the unpopular old versions of Android up to 6 Marshmallow inclusive, since these applications cannot provide root access on the latest versions operating system Android 8 Oreo, 9 Pie and Android 10 Q.
Thus, in 2021, to obtain root rights on Android, it is advisable to connect your mobile device to a computer running a root program, for example, Rootkhp Pro 3.1, VROOT 1.7.7 , ZYKUROOT 2.5 .
Program evaluation criteria
We investigated how to root Android using a PC , choosing the 3 best programs based on user reviews on the well-known forums 4PDA and XDA - RootKHP Pro, VROOT 1.7.7 and Zykuroot 2.4. Programs were evaluated based on:
- List of supported versions of the Android operating system
- Functionality
- Supported mobile device base
- Usability – ease of use for the end user
- Availability of an official website for the root utility
From 0 to 1 point for each item. All together up to 5 points inclusive.
Firmware Huawei Y5 II
Instructions for flashing the Huawei Y5 II smartphone (2) to the new version of Android, unlocking the bootloader, installing custom TWRP recovery and obtaining Root superuser rights.
In this instruction, I suggest you flash your Huawei Y5 II (Y5 2) phone to EMUI 3.1 firmware ported from Y6 Pro
The main differences from the original Y6 pro firmware: – Firstly, this is a full-fledged EMUI 3.1, and not a lite version – Stock camera. – More stable operation of the firmware (due to code optimization) – Installed Xperia Keyboard – Added MIUI theme – Added notification sounds – Added Google Camera.
Now let's move on to installing this firmware on the Huawei Y5 II phone.
And so first you need to download several files to your PC
Download custom recovery – custom TWRP recovery for Huawei Y5 II
Firmware program – SP Flashtool
Unpack and install the SP FlashTool program on your PC (I recommend installing the program in the root of the disk so that there are no Russian letters and symbols in the path (for example, “E:\Flashtool”) Then unpack the downloaded archive with a custom recovery smartphone, it is advisable to extract the file to the root of the disk
Launch the FlashTool program. Click the “Scatter-loading file” button, select your scatter file (which is in the folder unpacked to the root of the disk. The firmware structure will appear, you need to uncheck all the boxes except Recovery. Click on the path to the recovery.img file (last Location column) and select your file “recovery.img.” Make sure that the Download only mode is selected (the switch is on top, above the sign), and click the Download button.
Connect your phone using a USB cable to your computer. Wait until the colored stripes start running, this will mean. that the firmware has started. When finished, a window with a green checkmark will appear, which means that the firmware was completed successfully, and a modified TWRP recovery is installed on your Huawei Y5 II.
Copy the firmware file to the root of the smartphone's SD card.
After successfully flashing TWRP recovery, you need to boot your smartphone into recovery mode. To do this, turn off the phone, wait until it starts to vibrate, then simultaneously press and hold the power button + volume up button until you enter recovery.
First you need to make wipes, i.e. reset/clear. To clean, select Wipe – Advanced Wipe – mark the required sections (usually Dalvik, Cache, System and Data). Never mark the EMMC partition, it's your SD card! – move the slider located at the bottom to the right. We wait, then click Back (you can use the back key, whichever is more convenient for you) and return to the main menu.
And then finally, install our EMUI Rom 3.1 Huawei Y5 2 firmware.
Click Install – look for our firmware file on the SD card (usually it’s at the bottom) – select the file and move the slider to the right for firmware. After finishing the firmware, return to the main menu, click Reboot – System (to reboot into the system).
Notes: 1- After the first boot, if you get the black screen issue, do a full factory reset, go to themes and reapply the default theme again. 2- Custom themes appear will not work directly, you must move them to system/themes using root explorer and set the correct resolution and restart your computer.

Getting root on Huawei Y5C Y541-U02
Let's begin our experiment!. Before you begin, you must enable USB debugging if you have not done so previously.
Installing root rights using Rootkhp Pro 3.1
The program supports all existing versions of the operating system; support for Android 10 in version 3.1 is still raw, but given that the program is constantly updated, this will not be a problem.
- Download Rootkhp Pro 3.1
- Launch without installation
- Click Root
- A notification appears, click OK and wait further.
- We receive a second notification that you have root access.
What to do if an error appears?
- Make sure USB debugging is enabled
- Try again
- Try writing feedback to the developers on the program website or try another program to get root
Using ZYKURoot 2.5
Full support up to Android 9 Pie, Android 10 in beta mode, sometimes crashes. According to information from the developers' website.
- Download ZYKURoot 2.5 and launch it
- Click Root and wait for the message. Based on our observations, it is important to note that the time indicated is approximate, in some cases it can be either more or less
- When I gain root access, this message appears:
- After this you need to reboot the device
The process took: 18 minutes.
Root using Vroot 1.7.7
No database with supported mobile devices was found, and the program does not position itself as a universal root tool, so we decided to try it blindly.
- Download Vroot 1.7.7. We have removed the link to the application because it turned out to be useless!.
- You may need to disable antivirus programs (depending on your specific antivirus, this action is at your own peril and risk, there are programs that are approved by antiviruses).
- Press the Root button and wait until the device reboots on its own. After this, you can disconnect the device from the PC and use it.
- After an automatic reboot, the Superuser application in Chinese will be installed.
Expert review:
Unfortunately, the VROOT application is extremely unstable. I do not recommend for use.
Alas, this program did not live up to our expectations; no results were obtained.
Reviews about Huawei Ascend Y541
Advantages:
A good screen, although not IPS, with a large margin in brightness. Not bad sound of the ringing speaker, conversation volume. There are a few pre-installed programs that can be successfully removed using standard tools. A convenient shell that I had no desire to replace. In general, it would be a good budget phone, if not for one small nuance.
Flaws:
Can only be recommended as a simple dialer. Calls, SMS - the device copes with this. You can skip everything else. Why this is so - details below. And, unfortunately, it is too expensive for a simple dialer.
A comment:
On my copy, after two and a half weeks of use, the following defect was noted: 1) On the phone, reset to factory settings, when the “Wi-Fi in sleep mode” key is in the “Always” position (this key is located in the settings in the “ Wi-Fi/Advanced settings"), the Wi-Fi wireless connection turns off after a while (about 1 hour) when the phone is in standby mode. This behavior is also reproduced when a charger is connected to the device, i.e. when the phone is powered from the network. At the same time, according to the product’s operating instructions, with this setting, Wi-Fi should always be turned on, regardless of other energy saving settings. 2) When the device is in standby mode for an hour, data transmission (including 3G) spontaneously turns off, as a result, notifications about receiving mail (Email client from the standard delivery of the device), Whatsapp messages, and Hangouts messages do not arrive. The “Device Detection” function using Google Play tools diagnoses “Device not found”. In this case, the keys in the settings are in the following position: Key “Limit background. transfer” in the “Data Usage/Mobile Traffic” section is removed; The “Wi-fi in sleep mode” key in the “Wi-Fi/Advanced settings” section is in the “Always” position; The “Energy Saving” key has been removed, all keys in this section have been removed. Huawei Devices technical support remains proudly silent. The authorized service center does not recognize the defect, but does not provide instructions for eliminating this behavior. Perhaps this is the policy of Huawei Devices in the Russian Federation in relation to budget and mid-range models: on you, consumer, take the cake, and go to all fours. Of course, I could be wrong, but so far I have not been dissuaded of this.
Summing up the results of the study
Using the VROOT program, our expert Albert Belousov was unable to obtain root access to Huawei Y5C Y541-U02 .
We give a formal minus to RootKHP Pro and ZYKUroot - for the lack of support for languages other than English, they receive 0.5 points instead of 1, but let’s just say the minus is purely formal, because pressing 1 or 2 buttons in English does not require much intelligence. The information content in these programs is also lame, since there is no progress bar, but not to the detriment of the result.
The situation with VROOT is much worse, it does not receive points in the usability category, because there is no information about supported devices, supported versions of operating systems, the entire menu is in Chinese, it is very difficult for beginners to understand.
