Recently, Huawei Pay has become increasingly popular and is of interest to many users. The presented service is new among contactless payment applications, and in Russia it is not available to everyone. Let's look at what this program is, how to use it and what features it has.

What is a Huawei wallet
Huawei Pay is a wallet through which you can make payments via contactless payment (NFC) on Huawei and Honor devices. The mechanism works like this:
- you open the application;
- choose a card;
- click on it;
- bring it to the terminal;
- he makes a request to write off the required amount;
- you confirm by entering a code or fingerprint.
In practice, making a payment takes up to a minute.
The situation is simplified by the fact that in Russia transfers up to a thousand rubles do not require entering a password. Payment transactions for goods or services are considered completely safe, since the server has several powerful protections installed. The developers took care of protection against hacking and information leakage.
Payment systems for Huawei
To store all cards in one place, you need to select a payment application for Huawei.
Currently, residents of Russia have two options available:
- Google Pay for Huawei.
- Android Pay on Huawei.

There is an opinion that Samsung Pay will also work on a smartphone. However, this is not true as Huawei/Honor lacks the Sansung Knox platform.
Which smartphones support Huawei Pay
Huawei Pay does not support many devices
Despite the fact that at first Huawei Pay in Russia supported a limited list of smartphones, in November 2021 it received support for all Huawei and Honor smartphones available on the domestic market. But, unfortunately, there are no more smart watches and fitness bracelets with a built-in near-field module on the list compatible with Huawei Pay, although, as we already know from Xiaomi’s experience, today there are no problems equipping even a fitness bracelet NFC module.
Why Huawei Pay doesn't work
Now there is no shortage of smartphones compatible with Huawei Pay, but there are no branded Huawei smartwatches at all. Why is unclear, and the Chinese themselves do not explain. But they clarify that Huawei Pay will only work on devices that were officially imported into the country. That is, if you bought a device on AliExpress intended for the Chinese market, you will not be able to pay with it in Russia due to differences in the firmware, which simply will not allow you to activate the contactless module and link cards from compatible banks. However, this is not the only problem.

Also in the first quarter of 2021, the Chinese service Huawei Pay will become available to residents of Russia.
The developers say that at first only clients of Gazprombank and Rosselkhozbank with credit or debit cards will be able to use it.
The system will work on Mate 20 / 20 RS / 20 Pro, P20 / P20 Pro, P10 / P10 Plus and others, including Honor.
To pay through this service, gadget owners must download the Huawei Wallet application and link their UnionPay bank card to it.
Huawei created its electronic payment system several years ago, but until recently it only worked in China. A year ago, the company entered into a deal with the Chinese bank UnionPay, according to which the corporation should promote it on the international market.
Russia will become the second country after China to launch Huawei Pay. According to unofficial data, the system became available to Russians in December 2021.
Which banks support Huawei Pay

At the moment, only two banks support Huawei Pay in Russia: Rosselkhozbank and Gazprombank. Why are there so few of them, you ask? But because only they (perhaps there are others, but nothing is reported about them) issue cards of the UnionPay payment system. That is, “plastic” from MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Maestro and MIR is not supported.
Has Google Pay become normal? Wait a minute though...
The thing is that UnionPay is a Chinese payment system, and Huawei is under sanctions and cannot cooperate with American and European systems. As for the MIR system, the situation here will probably change soon and Huawei Pay will officially work with it. But so far there has been no progress in this direction.
Why I refused Google Pay
It is also very important to consider that not all terminals work with UnionPay. Therefore, if you have a card of this payment system, make sure that there are UnionPay or Huawei Pay icons at the checkout in the store where you want to pay. But if I have seen UnionPay here and there, I have never seen Huawei Pay at all. However, perhaps I was just not paying attention.
Android Pay on Honor Huawei
This system on Honor is available in the Play Market, so installing it won’t be a lot of hassle, unlike its older brother.
Download + Install:
- Download the payment system from the market or from a third-party resource.
- Login via Google account.
Linking bank cards
- After opening the application, you will see the “Maps” icon
- Go to the new menu, select the “Add” button
- Enter information about the card/s in the field that opens.
- Enter the confirmation code
An important point: to be sure of the solvency of the details, the service will temporarily debit a few rubles from the account. They will be returned to the map soon.
Banks that support Android Pay: Binbank, VTB-24, Sberbank, Alfabank, MTS Bank, Yandex.money.
Which models have NFC built in?
Not all smartphones support the presented payment method. To make such payments, the phone must have a special NFC chip built in. This module is built into all modern smartphone models as standard. If you are using an old phone, then it is quite possible that this chip is missing.
Go to the “Wireless Access” section in your settings to find out if this feature is available.
How to disable and delete Huawei Pay wallet: step-by-step instructions
Huawei Pay may not work on all smartphones from this manufacturer. At the moment, the application is built into new models as standard. Today, users have access to the following phones that support Huawei Pay:
- Mate 20, as well as Pro and RS Porsche versions.
- P20, including Pro version.
- P10, P10 Plus.
- Honor 9, 10, V10.
Over time, the presented line will be replenished; the manufacturer plans to introduce this technology into all produced phones. Also, do not forget that the program will only work on standard firmware with the latest updates.
Is it possible to install Samsung or Android Pay
Huawei smartphones run on Android. This makes it possible to use Android, available to most people, starting with version 4.4 - Android Pay. Now this service has been renamed Google Pay, but the essence remains the same.
To set up Google Pay you need:
- Download and install the Magisk Manager application.
- Enter it.
- Install Magisk in the application itself.
- Reboot your smartphone.
- Go to Magisk settings.
- Enable Magisk Hide.
- Reboot your phone again and go to Magisk Manager.
- Click on Magisk Hide that appears in the menu.
- In the activate Android Pay section.
After this, you need to add a card to the payment system:
- Login to Google Pay.
- Select "Add".
- Enter card details.
- Confirm binding.
Additional Information. You can add Visa and MasterCard cards from most Russian banks and organizations to the payment system.
As for Samsung Pay, this service works exclusively on branded devices, which Huawei has nothing to do with. This is due to the fact that in Korean smartphones, in order to work with the payment application, an additional chip is installed for secure data storage.
What is Huawei Pay
Huawei Pay is a payment system launched by Huawei together with its partners. With its help, owners of Huawei and Honor smartphones can make payments using their smartphone and with a guarantee of confidentiality. To use Huawei Pay, all you need is a smartphone and an NFC module installed on it.
Payment using Huawei Pay is completely secure. When making a payment, the bank card number or other customer data is not used. Instead of this information, a special token is used. This means that the payment instrument number is not stored on Huawei Pay servers and is not transmitted to the merchant. For additional security, when making a payment, you need to scan your face, enter a PIN code, or place your finger on the scanner.
In addition, when performing a transaction, Huawei Pay does not store transaction data, and the added cards have the same fraud protection as regular plastic.
If you download the Huawei Pay app on Honor, you can use it to solve the following tasks:
- payment for goods/services by holding up the phone;
- making payments via payment code;
- traveling on public transport;
- in-app purchase (planned to be implemented in the future).

We cast aside all doubts, such as “is it safe?” Everything is simple, fast and accessible to everyone with NFC contactless payment technology. The service operates within a radius of just a few centimeters and no one except the owner of the device will be able to use the funds.
Unfortunately, not every Huawei smartphone model supports the NFC module. - Place a checkmark next to the NFC service.
