Currently, the choice among wrist gadgets that are equipped with various functionalities is very large. Modern devices from well-known brands are distinguished by the fact that they can compete with fitness trackers, payment cards, and smartphones. Huawei and its sub-brand Honor are considered one of the most famous brands in the electronic gadgets market. Smart watches from this manufacturer belong to the mid-price category devices, which are equipped with many useful functions.
Huawei Watch 2 2021: Design
In appearance, as well as in name, Huawei Watch 2 2018 is almost identical to Huawei Watch 2 2021.
The first difference is in the color scheme: the Watch 2 2018 is now black with green details. At first glance, the plastic strap combined with the heavy body is a little confusing. However, after using them for several weeks, the comfort exceeded my expectations.
The body is made of metal and has a round shape. By the way, paired with a plastic wrist strap, the watch is practically not felt on the hand. In short, we forget about their presence on the hand.
The belt has a large number of small holes that are necessary for sweating.
There is time. Huawei introduced new smartwatches in Russia. What can they do?
In the summer of 2021, Huawei introduced updated versions of tablets and showed the first smart screens. Next up is the third series of Huawei Watch smartwatches. Manufacturers have released two options at once: the standard Watch 3 model and the version with the Pro prefix. How watches differ from each other, what they are capable of and how they are useful for the owner - in the material of Lenta.ru.
The main difference between the two models is the assembly materials of the wearable devices. The basic version of Huawei Watch 3 has a stainless steel case, and the glass is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass protective coating. The “proshka” has a screen covered with sapphire glass, and the case is made of titanium. But the back panel of both gadgets is the same - ceramic.
For both models, information is displayed on a round, bright 1.43-inch display with an AMOLED matrix. The choice of watch faces is large: more than 30 options are preinstalled on devices, and in the company store you can download more than a hundred more, including animated and game ones.

In the previous generation of Huawei Watch, there were two buttons on the right side of the case, but now one of them has been replaced by a more functional one (Rotatable Crown). It has haptic feedback - the user feels vibration when turning the wheel. The Rotatable Crown lets you zoom in or out on the display, scroll through menu options, or adjust volume. By the way, it is possible to control some watch functions using gestures. For example, to cancel an incoming call, just raise and turn your hand, and to accept a call, just clench your palm into a fist and unclench it.
According to the manufacturers, the proprietary Harmony OS 2.0 makes it possible to more effectively connect various Huawei devices into one ecosystem. Thus, the watch easily connects with a smartphone, speaker or smart screen: the user can control all gadgets from his wrist.
At the same time, owners of Huawei Watch 3 have the opportunity to connect the watch not only to branded smartphones, but also to mobile devices of other brands.

In Russia, several brand partners have already adapted their applications to work on Huawei Watch 3 and Huawei 3 Pro smartwatches. Among them is S7 airline: its program displays information about the flight, departure time and gate number. There is no need to take out your smartphone or open your laptop once again to check important data. The Maxim taxi ordering app displays trip information on the watch display, including the cost of the service and the driver's name.
The new watch is able to track the wearer's important vital signs 24 hours a day. Thus, the user can enable constant monitoring of heartbeat, blood oxygen level (SpO2) and stress level in the settings. At night, the device measures the user's sleep quality. All indicators are available both on the display of smart watches and in the Huawei Health application on a smartphone. There you can also read recommendations on how to cope with anxiety and get rid of insomnia (of course, if these problems were detected by the device). New features include monitoring body temperature throughout the day.
Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro traditionally claim to support a large number of workouts: the watch can track the user’s physical performance in more than a hundred exercises and sports games. The watch recognizes some types of workouts automatically—you don’t have to go through the settings before running.
In addition to standard indicators, such as calories burned and steps taken, smart watches assess the quality of each workout, and also determine the time required to recover from exercise. If the user does not rest enough between sports feats, the device will certainly warn him about this.
The autonomy of Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro deserves special mention. The basic version has a 450 mAh battery, one full charge of which is enough for three days of active use of the device. The word “active” means the use of almost all declared functions - constant monitoring of heart rate, SpO2 monitoring, use of GPS. If the user turns on the energy-saving mode, the watch will work for two whole weeks.
"Proshki" work even more. Thanks to the battery increased to 790 mAh, the watch lasts 5 days with all active features and 21 days in energy-saving mode. In general, you can forget about wireless charging for several weeks.

If desired, the watch can be made completely autonomous from the smartphone. Huawei Watch 3 Series supports eSIM technology - this feature allows you to add an additional phone number to the device. The owner will be able to answer calls directly from the wrist, because the gadgets have built-in speakers and microphones. As an option, it is possible to connect Huawei wireless headphones directly to the watch and communicate with friends/family/colleagues through the headset.
The Huawei Watch 3 series has changed significantly compared to the previous generation of smartwatches. Moreover, not only the design has changed, but also the operating system - smart watches have finally switched to HarmonyOS. Together with it, wearable devices “upgraded” the set of available functions for synchronization with other smart devices and for health monitoring. At the same time, the autonomy of the watch remains high, because if desired, its operating time can be extended to three weeks.
The new series is already available for pre-order in Russia. The basic version will cost customers 29,990 rubles, and Huawei Watch 3 Pro will be sold for 36,990 rubles. The watch will appear on the shelves of company stores and partner stores on July 16.
Huawei Watch 2 2021: Features
Among all the features, “eSIM Dual Terminal” is considered the most important one in Huawei Watch 2 2021. The smartwatch can support eSIM (dual device card) service. Also, without connecting to a smartphone, the watch is able to perform functions such as calls, access to the Internet, etc. In addition, it also supports independent SIM card function, which will be useful for those people who want to have a card with a separate number on their watch.
Thanks to built-in fitness functions, Huawei Watch 2 2018 is ideal for sports. Interesting features include tips for improving physical activity.
Huawei Watch 2 2021 comes with a galvanic sensitivity sensor for skin analysis, as well as oxygen data collection to help users evaluate and improve athletic performance. And, of course, the watch is completely waterproof.
The smartwatch also features: NFC, GPS, heart rate sensor (PPG), barometric pressure sensor, CAP capacity sensor, ALS/ambient light sensor, galvanic skin sensor, dual microphone, eSIM or Nano SIM support.
Setup and use
To set up, you'll need the Huawei Health app, which is available on the App Store, Google Play and AppGallery.
Huawei Health app interface
We first connected TalkBand to the iPhone 12 Pro and then to the Honor V20. We have identified some differences:
- When connected to iPhone TalkBand, you cannot control music on your smartphone.
- Even when connected to an Android phone, the bracelet only offers remote camera control for Huawei or Honor running EMUI 8.1 and above.
- There is no notification feature on the iPhone when heart rate thresholds are reached and menstruation begins.
- iPhone owners will have to make do with seven watch face options. Through the Android application, you can download more from the online catalog if you wish.
In all cases, Huawei TalkBand B6 does not have an Always on Display.
The watch face and notifications sent from your smartphone are easy to read on the large AMOLED display. As with other trackers, you can access heart rate monitoring, weather and other information using horizontal gestures.
For quick calls, widgets for favorite contacts and a list of recent calls are available.
Huawei Watch 2 2021: Performance
The screen is a 1.2-inch OLED with a resolution of 390x390 px and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The watch weighs 57 g and measures 45 x 48.9 x 12.6 mm and is waterproof according to the IP68 standard. In addition, Huawei Watch 2 2021 runs on the new version of Android Wear 2.0 and also supports smartphones running Android 8.0.
The watch is equipped with a Snapdragon 2100 processor with 768 MB RAM and 4 GB internal memory. Thanks to the NFC sensor, the device supports various payment systems: Huawei and Ali Pay, in addition to the WeChat system.
It's worth noting that today only a few smartwatches are truly suitable for everyday use. Huawei Watch 2 2021 is one of them. This is one of the most stable smartwatches I've used. And although the device is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor, which was released quite a long time ago, and has only 768 MB of RAM, the Watch 2 2021 works without delays or glitches.
In addition to stability, battery life has also improved significantly. The battery life of Huawei Watch 2 2018 is up to days and a half days on a single charge.
Health and fitness
In its Android app, the company writes about Huawei TalkBand B6:
“The strap to manage your health information can also be used as a Bluetooth earphone.”
This means that the TalkBand is first and foremost a fitness tracker, and its quality was confirmed in our testing.
It reported activity time, steps and distance, and altitude traveled with high accuracy. A separate advantage is the nice statistics in the Huawei Health application.
When connected to an Android smartphone, women can mark their menstrual cycle and receive a forecast of fertile days.
Heart rate and stress monitoring in Huawei Talkband B6
In the application, you can specify heart rate thresholds, upon reaching which a notification will be sent. If you are using TalkBand in combination with an iPhone, this feature will not work. This only applies to warnings. Your heart rate will be tracked throughout the day on any device.

Points of perceived stress are tracked and displayed on charts. You can view statistics on your display or smartphone.
Blood oxygen saturation (SpO2)
Huawei TalkBand B6 does not measure blood oxygen saturation automatically. The measurement can only be started manually.
As a general rule, a saturation value between 90 and 100% should not be a concern. If it regularly drops below this level, it may be a sign of health concern. In this case, we recommend that you consult a doctor.
We compared the measurements several times with the results of a certified medical measuring device. The maximum deviation was 2% and the average deviation was 1.2%.
Sleep tracking in Huawei Talkband B6
The tracker records a detailed sleep protocol using the Huawei TruSleep algorithm. The application provides detailed information about the quality of sleep and night breathing. It also provides tips for improving your sleep quality.
The diagram reflects the time of wakefulness, the stages of deep sleep, light sleep and the intermediate phases of REM (rapid eye movement).
Based on the time of falling asleep and waking up, we can conclude that the information is being tracked correctly.

Record your workouts
While the quality of the Huawei TalkBand B6 is on par with other Huawei wearables in terms of health tracking, it lags behind in sports features.
It all starts with a meager selection of different sports:
- cross training;
- walking;
- run;
- a ride on the bicycle.
For many other sports, the only option available is free-form training.
The Android app offers 10 running workouts, while the iPhone app does not.
TalkBand does not have its own GPS. When running, hiking (walking) or cycling, the route is recorded using A-GPS, so it uses the smartphone's GPS. This means you can't leave your smartphone at home while you run. If TalkBand loses connection to your smartphone during an activity, route recording stops. This was noticed during our test. Even though the TalkBand recorded the entire workout and was quite accurate in determining parameters such as distance and speed using intelligent algorithms, it did not automatically restore the interrupted Bluetooth connection or complete route recording.

Running and fast walking will be detected automatically by workout recognition. The TalkBand will vibrate after about five minutes and ask if you want to record the activity as an indoor or outdoor workout.
After your workout, TalkBand displays your maximum oxygen consumption, evaluates the effect of your workout, and tells you how many hours of rest you should give your body to recover before starting your next workout. TalkBand also stores previous workout information and charts, and the app supplements these with weekly or monthly reports.
Conclusion
Huawei Watch 2 2021 has about the same battery life as the Apple Watch. If you have an Android smartphone, then the new smartwatch from Huawei will be the best choice. iPhone users should, of course, pay attention to the Apple Watch.
Huawei Watch 2 2021 is currently only available on the Chinese market at a price of 270 euros. A Bluetooth version is also available for 205€.
