LED indicator colors on Huawei and Honor smartphones: how to turn on, configure, change

LED indicator colors and their interpretation

The indicator light mentioned above can be almost any color the smartphone owner chooses, but some icons are considered basic. They are used until the user makes changes that suit him. Such notices include:

  • red – indicating battery charge below 10%;
  • flashing red when the battery charge situation becomes critical (below 4%);
  • orange or yellow appear when charging and indicate that the current level is from 10 to 90%;
  • green – reports exceeding 90%;
  • Flashing green indicates a received message or missed call.

Design and ergonomics

The new product received a traditional design in the best traditions of the brand. In Russia, the smartphone is sold in gold, black and dark blue colors. In the first case, the front panel is white, in the second and third - black. A model in dark blue came to us for testing - perhaps the most stylish and successful color of the three.

The device is housed in a monolithic case, the back of which is made of pleasant metal. It is almost matte and does not slip in the hand.

The main camera module is located in the upper left corner: two sensors and an LED flash. You can see a small dot nearby - this is a noise reduction microphone. The fingerprint scanner is located in the center of the back. This is acceptable for the budget segment, but in more expensive devices you would like to see a fingerprint sensor on the front panel.

How to turn on the indicator light on Honor and Huawei?

Those who do not yet know how to turn on the indicator on Honor and Huawei should use the following instructions:

  1. you need to open the smartphone settings menu;
  2. find the section on the screen that mentions applications and notifications and switch to it;
  3. click on the “status bar” inscription (this inscription may differ on different devices);
  4. enable the flashing function.

As a result, when the function is enabled, users will be able to learn about important events in a timely manner.

What ordinary users and third-party Internet resources advise

So, we have learned the recommendations that manufacturers and developers suggest using. But there are also tips that are offered by ordinary people. And they are usually prepared based on actual tests. And getting real results. Therefore, it is also worth talking about them, since it is precisely such recommendations that are often very effective.

For example, one of the users talked about how he was able to solve a similar problem with the lack of notifications on his Huawei P20 Pro:

  • Initially, make the following transition: Settings—>Battery—>Launch applications;
  • A list of available options will open. View it. Find those that have stopped sending notifications;
  • Follower move the slider next to each of them to the inactive state;
  • Simultaneously with this process, an additional screen will appear where the smartphone owner will be asked to set manual settings. There are three options - activate the sliders for everyone;
  • Next step: go to Settings—>Applications and notifications—>Applications;
  • Pay attention to the bottom of the screen. Click on the gear-shaped icon;
  • In the list, select “Special access”, then “ignore battery optimization;
  • We set optimization to be ignored for all problematic applications.

Another recommendation from owners of similar phones is to completely remove software that has stopped functioning normally. And then - return it using a new installation. As practice shows, this operation is often enough for the program to start sending notifications normally again.

Also, many owners of modern mobile phones use a product such as Clean Master on their devices. And one of the users noticed that after installing this tool a problem began to arise. He went into the program settings. Selected “clear notifications”. Set it to "Off". And everything became normal.

It turns out that this program, in its original mode, simply deleted notifications. And they simply did not reach smartphone owners!

Another way was found on the Internet. Or rather, it is an addition to the official instructions from Huawei technical support.

And it consists of the following:

  1. Check the necessary settings and carry out all the necessary actions according to the official instructions-recommendations, depending on the version of the Android operating system and the proprietary shell.
  2. Additionally, go to the list of applications. And limit the rights to those options that are used very rarely. Or even get rid of them by deleting them.
  3. Launch all the programs that are critical to you one by one. At the top of the window you will find a padlock icon. Click on it. This will ensure that the applications you need will always remain in the phone's RAM. And it won't close accidentally. For example, if the user decides to clear memory.

Huawei smartphones have several options for customizing notifications. Therefore, their activation is not always obvious and depends on the state of the smartphone (whether it is in power saving mode, active or the screen is locked, etc.).

In this article, we will tell you how to enable notifications on Huawei on the lock screen, configure their display for individual applications, and also how to enable screen activation and blinking of the indicator for incoming messages.

What to do if the notification indicator does not work?

If you cannot turn on the status indicator, and the light does not light up or blink, you should do the following:

  1. make sure that the function is active through the settings menu;
  2. try changing the color of the signal;
  3. make sure the phone is working properly.

Sometimes the opposite situations occur: the phone does not turn on and the red indicator is on. In such cases, it is recommended to charge the device and try to turn it on later.

turn the blinking indicator on Honor on or off. If you are the owner of a Huawei Honor smartphone, then you can turn on the indicator on your phone to blink, which notifies you of missed calls, messages and other notifications. A very useful function that will let you know that you missed an important call, notification, or SMS. Also, if you don’t want to see the notification light blinking, you can turn it off in your phone settings. In our example, we will show how to turn off or turn on the blinking indicator on Honor 9, it should work on other Huawei Honor smartphones.

Interface and features

The device runs on the latest version of Android 8.0 Oreo and the manufacturer’s proprietary interface EMUI 8.0, which we described in detail in the review of Honor View 10. Once again, we praise the Chinese developers for a fast, customizable and convenient shell that is perfectly optimized and works quickly. We are also pleased with the large number of additional settings and functions.

One of the main advantages of Honor 7C is the presence of an NFC module. What can I say, in 2021 contactless payments have become necessary for all modern users, and it is almost impossible to find NFC technology in the budget segment. In our case, contactless payments are set up using simple instructions via Google Pay (formerly Android Pay).

The second strong feature of the smartphone is unlocking by the owner’s face. It must be admitted that this functionality is still crude and does not work very quickly. If you put on glasses or cover your face with your hand, don’t wait for it to unlock. The same applies in low light and on the move.

In parallel with this unlocking method, you can use a fingerprint scanner. It works more stable and reliably, but we can’t talk about instant response speed. After more expensive devices, the difference is noticeable.

As for support for 4G networks, Honor 7C has support for all bands required in the Russian Federation: 1/3/5/7/8/20. The GPS works correctly and a cold start usually only takes a few seconds.

Setting up a screen unlock password to protect your data

Your Honor 10 device stores a lot of personal data: photos, contact data, banking applications and much more. Set up a screen unlock password to protect your data. A screen unlock password will protect your data if you lose your device or attempt unauthorized access.

Set a screen unlock password: Open the Settings , select Security & privacy > Screen lock & passwords , select a screen unlock password type. Setting up a PIN code : A PIN code is a sequence of numbers. Entering a PIN code is a quick and easy way to unlock your device. It is recommended to use a long sequence of random numbers as a PIN code. Select Password > PIN a PIN, then press OK . Setting up a pattern : To unlock the device, you will need to draw a specified pattern. It is recommended that the pattern contains intersecting lines. Select Password > Pattern and draw the same pattern twice. The pattern must connect at least 4 dots. Setting a Password: A password containing letters, numbers, and special characters is a more secure method of security than a PIN or pattern. For additional security, we recommend using a password of 8 or more characters, containing letters, numbers, and special characters. Remember your password. Otherwise, you will not be able to unlock the device. Select Password > Password , follow the instructions to set up a password, then click OK .

Unlocking your device with a smart band : If your device supports unlocking with a smart band, your device's screen will be activated when the smart band is less than 80 cm away from your device. Swiping across your device's screen will instantly unlock it. Tap Smart Unlock and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Appearance and Controls

A rectangle with rounded corners is a design that has already become a classic; in recent years, only the aspect ratio and the thickness of the frames around the screen have changed, so the Honor 10i fits a 6.21-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 in a relatively small body.

The screen takes up almost the entire area of the phone, leaving only the teardrop-shaped cutout for the camera dark, which can be disguised by darkening the status bar.

In the settings, you can replace on-screen buttons with control gestures and add a navigation button. But attempts to find a setting to control the phone with one hand failed, which looks quite strange - reaching the top of the screen using only one hand is simply unrealistic.

On the right side there is a power button and a volume rocker (you can also use it to trigger the camera), while the left side is devoid of controls. On the bottom there is a 3.5mm jack for headphones, a microphone, a speaker and a Micro-USB connector, and on the top there is a second microphone and a tray for SIM/SD cards.

It’s quite strange to see a Micro-USB connector instead of a modern USB Type-C, but it’s hard to call it a minus, but the proximity of the microphone to the tray looks more than inappropriate - there are quite a few people who want to poke a pin into the microphone in an attempt to open the tray.

Combined tray – either two Nano-SIM, or Nano-SIM + microSD up to 512 GB

On the back cover there is a flash, a triple camera (an ultra-wide-angle module, a regular (wide-angle) camera module and a depth sensor) and a fingerprint scanner; the latter can be used to open the notification curtain and scroll through photos in the gallery.

In addition to the scanner, the phone is equipped with a facial recognition function - recognition of the owner occurs quickly, and the phone recognizes the owner both with and without glasses, and even in a dimly lit room, recognition occurs quickly.

The official price of Honor 7C in Russia is 10,990 rubles.

Screen

The phone has an IPS screen with a resolution of 2340:1080 pixels (415 ppi), a brightness of 376 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 1250:1, a color gamut of 94% (sRGB) and good viewing angles.

The brightness range is enough for comfortable work, both during the day outdoors and in the evening in a dimly lit room. There is an eye protection mode with manual color temperature adjustment.

Cameras

There are many cameras in the phone - four:

Triple camera 24 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP with ultra-wide-angle lens and 32 MP front camera with artificial intelligence for selfies, all of them except the 2 MP secondary camera have their own settings.

Front 32MP, main 24MP and ultra-wide-angle 8MP

In scenes where you need to fit a lot into one frame, an ultra-wide-angle camera is suitable - for shooting a large company in a cramped room or when there is movement in the frame, there are no alternatives. It is also suitable for landscape shots, but only when maximum detail is not important - the 24 MP main camera leaves no chance.

The left frame is the main camera, the right is the ultra-wide-angle one. In terms of color reproduction, the frame from the main camera is closer to the truth, but I like the one from the ultra-wide angle better.

There is also a mode for assembling panoramas; note how well the main camera performed in backlight (middle shot). There are gluing flaws - they are clearly visible on a straight horizon line, but on a complex urban terrain they are either absent or not noticeable.

For those who like to photograph food, drinks and flowers, there is an “Aperture” mode that allows you to blur the background, as happens when working with high-aperture optics.

On the left is a wide open aperture, on the right is very closed

There are modes for all other shooting scenarios, including the “Pro” mode with completely manual settings, but the “Night” mode (night shooting without a tripod) deserves special mention.

To shoot in night mode, it is enough to hold the smartphone fairly level for 3-5 seconds - a slight tremor is ignored.

“Night” mode, insert in the corner from a frame shot in normal mode.

And a couple more typical examples

"Night" was unexpectedly so good that it might make you go outside to film.

The artificial intelligence of the front camera takes about five years, which will appeal to many.

On the right is a photo from the Honor 10i, on the left is a side view.

Video is shot up to Full HD 60 fps, there is also a Slow Motion mode with 16x slowdown

In progress

Let's start synthetic tests with the popular AnTuTu Benchmark and 3DMark, the result was obtained in “performance mode” (the corresponding icon is visible in the status bar).

The temperature regime in performance tests is very comfortable; the stress test raises the temperature of the battery and processor a little higher - up to 39° C and 45° C, respectively.

In all both battery tests, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC were turned on, screen brightness was at medium level, and performance was at normal.

First, the Geekbench results - the phone lasted 6 hours and 47 minutes.

In normal use for me, the phone lasted 3 days, during which time I used: 100 minutes of calls, more than two hours of online music (connected to the car system via Bluetooth) and about the same amount of time spent on social networks and instant messengers connected to Internet via Wi-Fi or 3G/4G.

The smartphone has a single-band Wi-Fi module, however, even in the air congested by neighboring networks, the connection is stable and does not cause any complaints.

Autonomy and battery

The smartphone is equipped with a 3000 mAh non-removable battery, so there is no need to expect any surprises from the device in terms of battery life. This is another gadget that will have to be charged every evening. You need to understand that it does not use the most energy-efficient chipset and a large, bright display.

With average brightness, headphones and Wi-Fi, an hour of watching a video on YouTube consumed 10% of the battery charge - quite a decent figure. A night in standby mode takes 1-3%, and an hour of playing Angry Birds 2 requires about 20-25%.
