Both smartphones look harmonious; designers eat their bread for a reason. Honor 8S has 3 colors: gold, blue and black. Honor 10 is available in colors: green, black, blue and gray. Honor 10 receives from us for the number of color options presented.
Exterior design and ergonomics
Both smartphones under consideration are made in a monolithic version; the body materials are aluminum and glass . Let's compare the Samsung A8 and Honor 10: how different the devices are in design and easy to use.
Design features of Samsung A8
The rectangular body of the smartphone with rounded corners is made of high-strength Gorilla Glass 5 in a matte aluminum frame. The device is protected from moisture and dust.
Important! SAMSUNG A8 protection corresponds to IP68 class, that is, the device is dust-proof and allows immersion under water to a depth of more than a meter for a long time
The display occupies almost the entire area of the front panel. A narrow strip at the top is reserved for placing the selfie camera, earpiece slot, infrared port and sensors. The following structural elements are also installed on the body:
- on the right end edge there is a power button and the main speaker above it;

Everyone has their own idea of the ideal display size. For some it is important that the phone easily fits into a jeans pocket, for others it is important to view photos. Returning to the compared models, we note that the screen size of the Honor 8S is slightly smaller than that of its opponent. The weight and thickness of the phones are different: Honor 10 is slightly thinner, while Honor 8S is slightly lighter.
If you like the powerful battery of your Samsung Galaxy A12 smartphone, but want to charge it faster
Formally, the Samsung Galaxy A12 received, in addition to a large battery, fast charging, but if the battery here is really impressive, then only a true fan can call 15 W fast charging. With this you will have to leave the smartphone “on the base” for 2.5 hours, no less.
If you need it faster, look towards realme 6 . Yes, the battery is a little smaller, but what fast charging is - 30-watt, this is still the norm only for much more expensive models. There are a couple more points that will please you: a quadruple camera, but the main module is 64 megapixels (the Samsung Galaxy A12 has 48 megapixels), a screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz (everything is sooooo smooth and pleasing to the eyes).
realme 6 |
“Yes,” you say, “But realme 6 costs more, about a thousand rubles.” This is true, but for this money you get 4/64 GB of memory, and in the same configuration the Samsung Galaxy A12 costs comparable, and by catching a sale or rustling around with coupons on Aliexpress, you can save the same thousand, or even more, on realme 6.

Who will we give preference to? Honor 10 scored , but Honor 8S was unable to compete in terms of display parameters.
Displays
Let's start with the screens - the Galaxy A50 has a 6.4-inch diagonal Amoled matrix; on Honor 10 – IPS with a diagonal of 5.8 inches. The display test results are shown below:
Galaxy A50:
- White brightness: 551 cd/m2
- Black brightness: 0 cd/m2
- Contrast: ∞
- Color accuracy, DeltaE (lower is better): 1.7
Honor 10:
- White brightness: 508 cd/m2
- Black brightness: 0.326 cd/m2
- Contrast: 1558:1
- Color accuracy, DeltaE (lower is better): 0.8 with Warm temperature setting
Samsung Galaxy A50 wins in terms of screen. Plus there is a fingerprint scanner under the matrix, which is rare in the mid-range segment.

It's up to you to decide - for some, the duration of operation without recharging is more important, for others, the speed of operation and memory capacity.
Performance
Let's continue comparing the characteristics and move on to the filling. Both models come with 4 GB on board, but in Asia Honor outperforms its competitor as it comes in a 6 GB version.
Samsung's processor power is also inferior in numerical comparison: with the same 8 cores, its frequencies are 2.2/1.6 GHz, while Honor was given a 2.36/1.8 GHz processor. And it’s not so obvious what to choose: the cool Samsung A8 according to reviews or the Honor 10 equipped with neural network AI. Let us only note that both devices are suitable for most games.
Camera specifications
For many people, photo quality is one of the most important factors when choosing a phone. Let's compare our models.

Honor 8S has a lower matrix resolution; for this parameter, Honor 10 is preferable. If you like to share your selfies on social networks, then choose Honor 10, whose front camera resolution is much better.
Autonomy
The Honor 10 phone has a built-in battery with a capacity of 3750 mAh, the Samsung S8 is slightly smaller, 3000 mAh. But in practice, the operating time of the first is 23 hours, and the second is only an hour less. A full charge is enough for reading at minimum image brightness for 15 hours, playing for 5 hours, watching movies for 10 hours.
Honor 10 has fast charging; it gets half the charge in half an hour. But Samsung has it wireless.

Camera
Gradually, the confrontation between Samsung A8 vs Honor 10 is moving towards its logical conclusion, and the last criterion that will allow you to make a choice for or against this or that device is the camera. The criterion is last on the list, but far from least important. After all, the photo capabilities of modern phones matter, and for some buyers they are key.
Honor 10 has a dual camera. The main color module has a resolution of 16 megapixels, and the auxiliary black and white module has a resolution of 24 megapixels. Both have phase focusing. The downside of the device is the lack of optical stabilization and optical zoom. Overall, the camera can be said to take great pictures at any time of the day.
But the minus of the initial stage, which was almost eliminated with the release of new firmware, is the work of artificial intelligence (AI). At the first presentations of the device, it was said that AI would significantly improve the performance of the device, the camera in particular. The device contains 22 ready-made scenes, which during AI operation will be compared with the information collected by the sensors. As a result, special chipset blocks (neuromorphic) select the best parameters for shooting and take the shot. Over time, the device must analyze the information and add scenes. To put it simply, the phone itself understands what the user is filming and selects settings for it. The process should improve as you use the phone as the chipset learns. At first, the function did not work correctly, and many people preferred to shoot the old fashioned way with AI turned off. As firmware updates were released, the situation began to change, but not so dramatically as to say that everything really began to work perfectly.
The Sasmung A8 cannot boast of a dual rear camera, but it has two of them on the front panel. The task of the 8 megapixel auxiliary module is to blur the background. As a result, it turns out that the model takes decent selfie shots, has different beautifiers and blurs the background. It does this well, but this exhausts all the usefulness of the auxiliary module.
The main camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels. In terms of level, it produces good pictures of the level of Chinese average smartphones, but clearly does not reach the camera installed in Honor 10. Night photography turns out to be more grainy, and in general, when viewing photos from two devices on a PC screen, the difference is very visible.
Conclusion. The victory in the “camera” section deservedly goes to Honor 10, and the score thus becomes 3:2.
Models similar to Honor 8S
Let's determine which other phones from Huawei are similar to name1-, as well as the degree of similarity of their characteristics.

Design: opt for a glass body
Surprisingly, both models have a case made of impact-resistant glass, which is framed by a metal frame. In order to reduce fingerprints on the surface, not only the front panel, but also the back panel was equipped with an oleophobic coating.
The fashionable “bangs” instantly attracts attention on the display. In the “eight” it became a haven for the front camera, an infrared scanner and emitter, automatic brightness and proximity sensors, as well as an LED for missed events.
The number of sensors on the unibrow of the “ten” is more modest, since there is a selfie camera, a speaker, an event light indicator and a proximity/brightness sensor.
Its infrared port is located at the top end, next to the auxiliary microphone. The advantage is the 3.5 mm jack, since the modification from Xiaomi does not have such a port at all, as a result of which a special adapter is included in the package.
A significant difference when comparing Mi 8 with Honor 10 lies in the color palette of the case. The first model is presented in gold, black, white and blue. But the product from Huawei pleasantly surprises, because, in addition to black and silver colors, it boasts a gradient “shimmering green” and “shimmering blue”.

If you want a more powerful smartphone than the Samsung Galaxy A12
The performance of the Samsung Galaxy A12 is sufficient for most tasks, although it does not demonstrate outstanding results in benchmarks. But if you would prefer a Snapdragon processor, then here you go, Xiaomi Poco M3 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 11 nm processor (Galaxy A12 Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 (12 nm). As a bonus, you will also get a 6000 mAh battery in the Poco M3.

But you will have to sacrifice something. The Xiaomi Poco M3 has only three cameras on the back compared to the four of the Galaxy A12, and for some reason it was deprived of a much more useful ultra-wide lens, but the macro camera was left.
