Sim card is not activated Xiaomi - Solving the problem

Sim card is not activated on Xiaomi: reasons

If the SIM card is placed in the phone correctly, then the problem is in the settings or operation of the phone. There is no single prerequisite for an activation error. Therefore, it is possible to determine why the SIM card could not be activated only by the last actions performed.

Why does the SIM activation error come:

  • Activation via SMS message sent abroad;
  • Mi account does not contain a registered phone number;
  • Problems installing the language on the phone;
  • Problems in the firmware.

Even if you are sure that none of the above happened to your device, it is recommended to check all the points.

Operator blocking

To activate the SIM card, a system message is sent to another country. However, some operators do not allow sending SMS abroad. Therefore, it is worth asking your operator's support service if this blocking is used with you. At the same time, delivery of messages to foreign countries has a higher price, so you should check the balance status. On average, the cost of such a shipment is within 20 rubles.

If you cannot send any SMS from your smartphone, then you need to enter the SMS center number in the settings section, which you can ask the corresponding operator.

How to activate a SIM card on Xiaomi: system message to another country

Let's start understanding the installation of sim from the first point. The problem here is that, as a rule, a SIM card is activated by sending a message abroad, and mobile operators quite often block such SMS.

There are two solutions:

  1. Call the operator and ask about blocked SMS;
  2. Check the availability of a phone number through the Xiaomi activation service if the SMS does not go away at all.

Also check your balance just in case this is exactly what failed you.

With the first method everything is clear. But the second one should be undertaken only when absolutely no SMS are sent from your phone.

Usually, when you place a SIM card in a gadget, the phone itself enters the number of the mobile operator in a place specially designed for this. But sometimes failures occur, and you have to act on your own.

Instructions:

  • Open “Settings”, scroll the page to the “System Applications” tab - go;

  • Next, open “Messages”;

  • At the end of the page, find the “Advanced” tab;

  • In the “System” section, find the field “SMS number;

5. Enter the mobile operator number in the field:

  • Yota – 79585370690;
  • MTC – 79168999100;
  • Tele2 – 79043490000;
  • Beeline – 79037011111;
  • Megafon – 79202909090.

Ready.

I also found some information - maybe it will help you?

One person wrote - just delete your Mi ID once and reboot.

Another person said - turn on the Mi message for both SIM cards in the settings, it’s not clear why..

Another one said that you need to delete Mi cloud data.

Guys, I don’t know if this will help, but... try going to Settings, and there Mi Account, then to Mi Cloud and turn off Find device there. Picture on topic:

Then reboot your device. This may help you, I found the information on the foreign official MIUI forum.

I also found another way - you need to check the phone number in your Xiaomi account. Go to Settings > Mi Account > Security Account. And check in the Phone field - is it the same number that you use on your phone? I mean the SIM card number.. in general, here’s a picture on the topic:

The whole problem is that you must use the number that you specified when registering your Mi account. As it turns out, this is important. But you can probably change the account, or delete it and create a new one.. I don’t know.. but there should be a way to change the number in the account, it seems to me

But unfortunately, what I wrote above does not help everyone...

Registering a phone number

Often the SIM card is not activated due to the fact that when creating a Mi account you specified your email and not your mobile phone number. In this case, you will simply have to link the number to your account.

Instructions:

  • Go to the official Xiaomi website – “account.xiaomi.com”;
  • Log in to your account - enter your login and password;
  • Open the settings menu;
  • Enter your mobile phone number in the special field;

  • You will receive a confirmation code via SMS on your phone, which you will also need to indicate on the website;

Ready.

Settings for each SIM card

See all options here: Settings> Sim cards and mobile networks .

When the phone has 2 SIM cards working at the same time, you will see a signal from two cellular networks at the top (next to the charge level). For each SIM card, you can configure the use of a mobile network and data transfer (access point).

By selecting any SIM card, you will be taken to the settings menu, where the following options will be available:

  • Enable SIM card. If you do not use this SIM card for a long time and do not receive SMS and voice calls on it, then you can turn it off to save battery power.
  • SIM card name. Specify any name so as not to be confused with the second one - write the name of the operator.
  • SIM card number. A convenient option if you have forgotten your phone number.
  • Access points (APN) – which access point this SIM card uses to access the Internet and receive mms messages. These settings come the moment you insert a SIM card into the phone for the first time, and are installed automatically. There is no need to change anything. Or you can manually add an access point.

  • Preferred network type: 4G (LTE), 3G or 2G (calls only, no internet, to save energy).

  • Mobile networks. Select a network automatically or manually. I recommend it automatically, especially if you are roaming - the most “friendly” and inexpensive partner operator will be selected. Experienced users can choose the manual mode, while in roaming they take all the risks upon themselves (they may end up on an expensive tariff from someone else’s operator). For example, in manual mode, in addition to my Beeline network, other networks are available, but it is not a fact that I will be able to connect to them: MTS 4G, Tele2, Megafon 4G.

Changing the language on the phone

A fairly pressing problem is when the SIM card is not activated when the Russian language is installed on the smartphone.

What to do:

  • First, you need to log out of your Mi account - open “Settings”;

  • Go to the “Mi Account” page and log out of your account;

  • Go back a step and find the “Advanced”/“Advanced Settings” tab;

  • Open "Language and input";

  • Next, go to “Language” and change Russian to English;

Ready.

In what cases is activation required?

SIM activation is a procedure designed to increase the protection of a smartphone through an existing Mi account. The need to perform this operation arises when a corresponding message appears indicating that an activation error has occurred.

There are several reasons for such an error to appear on the display:

  • Since such messages are sent through operators from other countries, incoming foreign messages may be blocked, which can be resolved by calling the operator’s support service;
  • Software bugs and errors in the current installed version of the firmware or operating system, as well as errors that occur when using two active SIM cards at the same time. In most cases, we are talking about the presence of a “local” Chinese version of the firmware installed on the phone, which has only been Russified. In such cases, the problem is easily solved by flashing the firmware;
  • Incorrect reading of the mobile number or incorrect entry by the user.

Firmware check

It is possible that the activation problem lies in an outdated firmware version. Moreover, this is possible if everything worked properly before.

The solution is to check MIUI for updates, and, if any, replace the firmware with a newer version.

Manually entering a number if SMS does not work

There is another method that helps fix the problem if all of the above methods did not work and, on top of everything else, the inability to send SMS is added.

When the “SIM card is not activated” notification pops up again, click on it, then click on the “Repeat” button 4-5 times. A window will appear where you will need to enter your phone number, after which activation should occur.

If none of the solutions work, contact the service center, as the problem may already be in the mechanical parts of the phone.

Final Thoughts

All I could do was find it and tell you here. Now let's summarize:

  1. Xiaomi SIM Activate Service - connected to the SIM card, but it was not possible to find out what exactly it does.
  2. It is possible that the notification pops up due to synchronization problems, that is, for example, Mi Account cannot correctly determine your SIM card number in order to compare it with the one recorded in your account.
  3. There is a chance that you can disable this notification in the standard way; to do this, use the Mi Message setting, I wrote about this above. Or other settings, I wrote too. Try it, I really hope it helps..
  4. You can freeze it, after which the message should not pop up. I don't recommend deleting it.
  5. If your phone is under warranty, you should contact support; your phone may have a special application for this. Or just call and go to the service center. Interestingly, one person did just that - in the end he was told that he needed to update the firmware.

That's all. Good luck and hang in there. Goodbye, all the best
