One of the most common problems in a series of mechanical damage on mobile devices is a breakdown of the tablet charging connector.
It can be damaged due to careless handling, moisture or debris, long service life and other reasons. Therefore, almost every owner of a tablet computer will need to know how to charge the tablet if the charging socket is broken, as well as how to replace it and protect it from further damage in the future.
How to protect the charging socket from damage

If IQOS is under warranty, then in case of breakdowns, experts do not advise disassembling the electronic heater yourself. You need to take IQOS to a service center. If you disassemble it yourself, your right to warranty service will be void. To avoid malfunctions, you must use IQOS correctly and follow the operating instructions. The first method is a “frog charger”

The principle of operation of the “frog charger” is to charge the battery directly.
The battery is powered through a special universal device, similar in design to a frog, which is why it received the name of the same name. This budget charger is widely available and is suitable for any portable gadget with removable lithium-ion batteries (Lithium Ion Battery or Li-ion Battery).
To charge the battery, it must be removed from the case, then placed in the “frog”. The contacts are connected to the corresponding terminals on the power supply (negative - to minus, positive - to plus). Then the battery is secured and the device is connected to the electrical network. The indicator will light up if the battery is installed correctly in the charger. Once filled, it is detached and returned back to the tablet.
This method does not require special knowledge and guarantees an increase in the charge of the portable device without charging.
The second way is to use a spare battery
To use the tablet without a power socket, additional batteries are also used: external PowerBanks with high capacity or spare internal batteries.
The portable battery is connected to the electronic gadget via a USB port, which is provided in all modern portable PCs or smartphones. Such devices differ in power, amount of available charge, and strength of outgoing current. With a current of 3A, the PowerBank provides faster charging, while the standard rate is 1A.

When there is no additional equipment, unusual methods will help to charge the Tablet PC. It is important to consider that they do not guarantee a positive result. Filling the battery in such ways can lead to its permanent breakdown. Then all that remains is to purchase a new device.
Direct wiring to the board
The easiest way is to charge the tablet's battery directly. This method of recharging is considered extreme, so it should be used with caution.
Incorrect connection may result in a voltage drop, which can lead to damage to the device or electric shock.
The USB plug is cut off from the unnecessary cable, then the insulation is peeled off along its edge. In the cable hole there are 2 multi-colored wires, which are also carefully stripped. It is important not to damage them in the process.
It is not recommended to charge devices using this method!
The bare wires are connected to the battery removed from the case (one for positive, the other for negative) and secured with electrical tape.

Via headphone jack
It is impossible to charge an Android tablet using the headphone jack. This common myth arose due to the similarity of the connectors, but even if you plug a charger with a 3.5 mm plug into it, nothing will happen. The contacts of the headphone slots and the battery are not connected to each other.

If the socket has become loose from frequent use and does not hold the charger in place, you can lift the locking latches on the plug. This method will not give a long-term effect, but is suitable for quickly charging the tablet.

Clean the charging socket

A toothpick or a thin wooden stick will help remove dust from the connector; the main thing is not to overdo it and not damage small parts in the slot. To clean, just place it shallowly in the slot and carefully collect the dirt inside in a circular motion.

After each use, the heater must be cleaned of tobacco. A special brush comes with Iqos 3 multi. You can also remove stuck tobacco using a hook.
Flashing red
If the red light on the device blinks rhythmically, there may be the following reasons:
- if it flashes red after switching off, the device was switched off incorrectly;
- in winter, this indicator means the device is freezing;
- the contacts came off due to mechanical damage, for example, due to a fall or a sharp impact;
- the charger is discharged.
A rapidly flashing indicator indicates a serious breakdown. If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better not to disassemble Iqos yourself, so as not to further aggravate the problem.
Be sure to make sure that charging has completed. If the device is charged, but IQOS is still winking, the reason is not in the charger.
If IQOS lights up red and does not turn on, it is important to determine the reason. For example, this happens in winter and in the cold - you need to warm up the device, perhaps it is simply frozen and therefore does not work
In general, users note that when used in cold weather, the battery drains much faster.
It flashes red three times and is not smoking - you need to change the frequency of puffs and the interval between them, as indicated in the instructions.
Flashing white
The white color of the indicator means one of the following states:
- constantly blinking white – the device is charging;
- lights up continuously – charging is full;
- Does not light up white when charging – the device is turned off or put into sleep mode.
If it lights up white and does not turn on, there is a breakdown inside the device. It may be enough to clean the device. If it is under warranty, it is better to take it to a specialist.
Where to connect the terminals to charge the phone directly
Another option for charging directly will require some accuracy and knowledge of basic electrical engineering. To do this, you will need to cut off the connector on the charger with a knife and thoroughly clean the wires. A red wire is usually “+”, a blue (or other, for example black) wire is “-”.
After cleaning the insulation, the wires are applied directly to the battery contacts. The main thing is not to confuse the polarity and not to touch the metal with your hands. The wires are secured with pieces of insulating tape. After this, the charger is plugged into the outlet.
The method is also only a temporary solution. It provides unstable contact, which damages the battery, and is also unsafe in terms of the risk of electrical injury.
Whatever method you choose to charge the battery bypassing the damaged socket, you will almost certainly have to contact service. It is better not to delay such treatment, because all “amateur” manipulations only increase the likelihood of damage to the battery. But if lack of time or money does not allow you to repair your phone immediately, knowing these useful methods will be very useful.
