Where is the clipboard located in an Honor/Huawei phone?

What is a clipboard?

The “clipboard” in Honor is a section of phone memory specially allocated for the task of copying and pasting the necessary information. If in Windows OS such an area is quite large, then on Android OS, under which Honor gadgets work, the clipboard has modest volumes (usually about 1 MB). This size is enough to work with several pieces of text, but working with images and videos through it on the Android OS will be difficult.

Buffer size on Android is about 1 MB

Initially, the clipboard could contain only one piece of text. With the development of the functionality of the Android OS, several pieces of text can be placed into it. And, if necessary, use each of them.

Nowadays the clipboard can hold several pieces of text

Since the buffer takes up part of the device’s memory, its overflow can have a negative impact on the performance and stability of your smartphone. It is recommended that you clean it after you finish using your Honor phone.

How to find the clipboard in Honor and Huawei phones

It is important to re-emphasize that the buffer is a part of the smartphone's RAM, so it cannot be detected. Only programs and applications that use information from the smartphone for their actual work have access to this area. Users will not be able to access this area, regardless of their own desire. Applications for interacting with temporary files will also not help in finding the hidden sector, since their purpose is limited to managing specified saves. That is, it is impossible to cope with searching and gaining access.

Where exactly is the clipboard located in Honor?

Let us immediately warn you that there is no file called “clipboard” on your Honor. Its area is a virtual area allocated as a portion of your phone's memory. Access to it is open only to appropriate applications that work directly with the buffer. Other applications are not allowed in there.

Text applications actively use the clipboard

The most modern smartphones have a function for visualizing work with storage. This allows you to conveniently work with files and quickly clean it up.

Where is the clipboard on Android?

There's no point in knowing how to find the clipboard because most users don't have the skills to do so and finding temporary storage won't do any good. It is enough to know that it is located in RAM.

Since RAM is significantly different from permanent memory, you cannot simply go into it and look at folders with files.

To get into this section, you literally need to disassemble the device, connect it to special devices and work through a computer. All this makes no sense.

Most often, people search for where the clipboard is, meaning the question “Where can I see the data contained in the clipboard?”

As I mentioned above, displaying files in temporary storage occurs through the software. It is impossible to see this through the settings or in the folder.

Next I'll give an example of getting data into a buffer and then using it from there.

Description of actions:

  1. Install GBoard keyboard. It can be downloaded from the Play Market. You don’t need to figure out how to open the application. It's easy enough to install.
  2. Open a browser and any page with text.
  3. Hold your finger on the text until a menu appears.
  4. Select an arbitrary area of text.

  5. If there is no “Copy” item in the menu, tap on the three vertical dots.
  6. Click on “Copy”.

  7. Open any other application into which you can paste the copied text. For example, a notepad.
  8. Hold your finger anywhere you can paste text.
  9. A menu will appear. If there is no “Insert” item in it, you need to tap on the three vertical dots and click on “Insert”.
  10. If you need to open the clipboard, then the ninth point should be skipped. Instead, select “Clipboard” from the menu.

  11. The keyboard will display the latest data that was saved to temporary storage. You can select any file and insert it.

How to work with temporary data storage on your phone

Working with the clipboard on an Honor phone is no different from working on other phones running Android OS. If you want to place any text there, you need to long press on the desired text until two delimiters appear. The left limiter must be placed with your finger at the beginning of the text to be copied, the right one at the end. After setting the limiters, click on the “Copy” button, and this fragment will be copied to the storage.

Copy and paste the text you want

To insert the specified fragment from the buffer, launch the desired text application (for example, “Notes”), or activate a set of SMS messages. Then long press on the text input line. The “Insert” message will appear, which you will need to click on. The piece of text you previously placed on the clipboard will be pasted into the corresponding field.

How to view and delete files

There are several ways to find the clipboard on Android and delete files from there. Let's look at each of the methods in detail.

  1. Log in to any program that provides a field for entering text information.
  2. Look down where a panel should open with the information you copied earlier.
  3. At the top right, click the trash can icon.
  4. Make marks on all the elements that need to be deleted and click on the appropriate button.

If there is no link with a shopping cart, click on the text block and hold it for about 1-2 seconds. In this case, red crosses should appear. To remove unnecessary elements, click the crosses next to the files that need to be removed.

This method is good and allows you to clear the clipboard on Android. The downside is that this method does not work for all versions of Android.

Method number 2 (with root rights):

  1. Open your file manager.
  2. Enter the Android directory.
  3. Find the data/clipboard folder. Here you can view the clipboard on Android.
  4. Clean the specified document from unnecessary files.
  5. Go to Settings, and then Applications.
  6. Go to the All tab.
  7. Click on the Stop and Clear buttons.
  8. Restart your phone.

To obtain Superuser rights, you need to download the King Android Root program from the Play Market. Rooting a smartphone using this program requires connecting a computer and takes no more than 7-10 minutes.

Another way to clear your clipboard is to use one of the available apps. The advantage is that the user knows where the files of interest are located and can do the necessary work within the program. The algorithm of actions in each case is individual and depends on the characteristics of the application.

Applications for working with the clipboard on Honor

In addition to the standard functionality of the Android OS, there are a number of mobile applications specifically designed to work with the clipboard.

In particular, these are applications such as:

Applications and download links:Description:
"Clipboard Manager"An excellent manager for working with the buffer area, with a high rating. Allows you to sort notes by category, performs automatic cleaning, searches through notes and much more.
"Clipboard Actions & Manager"Another high-quality manager from the Play Market. The application does not have annoying advertising, has many options for working with the buffer, allows you to work with music and video, and so on.
"Clipper - Clipboard Manager"Professional clipboard manager, especially popular abroad. It has a simple but quite functional menu. It boasts the ability to automatically save buffer history, convenient organization and editing of notes, quick access to notes, and much more.
"My Clipboard"Another application of this kind with a responsive design and a very small size (about 1.5 MB).

How to make the Honor 10 clipboard contain a lot of data

You can simply install another keyboard, for example SwiftKey. Then just click the "+" icon in the top left corner of your keyboard and then the notepad icon.

The downside of the keyboard is that it does not store content for a long period of time. For example, Gboard only remembers the last five items.

You can expand the functionality of our Honor 10 phone by installing an application that will manage the clipboard.

You will be offered more useful features and will not be dependent on the keyboard and other applications.

You will be able to store much more content and automatically clear it from time to time or after it is full.

Unfortunately, it won't provide as fast access as the keyboard, but if you use it very often, copy a lot, send a lot of links often, or want to save them quickly, this solution with an additional app will definitely work.

I have two app suggestions for you that will add real clipboard functionality to your Honor 10 phone.

The first app, Clipper, is a powerful manager that has everything an app of this type should have.

First of all, it will allow you to easily view all the content, edit it, share it and organize it into lists.

The application provides quick access to the clipboard from the status bar. The clipper remembers up to 20 last copies.

The second application is “Clipboard Manager”. Essentially, it's very similar to an app—it's simpler, but it has more features.

In addition to what the previous app offered, this allows you to automatically delete notes (which are disabled by default in this app), import and export clipboard contents to a file, and automatically create cloud backups.

This program is one of the easiest managers to use. However, there are plenty available on Google Play to choose from.

A way to completely clear storage

As we wrote above, the buffer can be completely cleared by simply rebooting your device. If you do not want to restart your device, then launch the Notes application and long press it. From the menu that appears (usually Copy and Clipboard), select Clipboard.

Select the option shown

A page will open where all text sections currently in the storage will be displayed. To delete all text fragments, click on “Clear”. If you want to delete only one fragment, long press on it and select the “Delete from clipboard” option or click on the cross at the top right of such a block.

If necessary, delete the desired segment

How to Clear Clipboard Using Root

Owners of smartphones with Root rights can clear the buffer using the ES File Explorer file manager:

  1. Launch the application and open the “More” curtain.
  2. Scroll down the tab and enable Root Explorer.
  3. Go to the root folder of your smartphone, which is often named “Device”.
  4. Open the “data” folder and find “clipboard” in it.
  5. Inside there are folders marked with numbers - these are residual files from copied objects that disappeared after rebooting the smartphone, but left a trace in permanent memory.
  6. Select the first folder by holding your finger on it.
  7. Then open the “More” tab (three vertical dots in the top right) and select “Select All”.
  8. Click on the trash can icon.
  9. Agree to uninstall the files by clicking “OK”.
