Huawei Honor V10 review
Huawei Honor V10 is the most advanced smartphone in this line. It has flagship-level characteristics, and also has a stylish design and a dual camera. The gadget was officially announced in December 2021.
Appearance and ergonomics
The exquisite appearance of the Huawei Honor B10 is immediately emphasized by the metal body with a matte finish. In the upper left corner there is a dual camera. It protrudes significantly on the back cover. There is a flash very close, and just below is the brand logo. Although the back side is matte, fingerprints still remain on it. As for the front panel, it is entirely covered with tempered 2.5D glass, which is curved at the edges. At the same time, there are practically no side frames, and the top and bottom margins have been significantly reduced. Thanks to this, the engineers were able to fit a huge 6-inch screen into a not very massive case.
Below the display there is a navigation button, which also serves as a fingerprint scanner. The corners of the case are carefully rounded to maximize ergonomics. Using a smartphone with one hand is quite possible, and high-quality materials contribute to additional comfort. The built-in battery has a capacity of 3750 mAh. Available colors: red, gold, blue and black. Dimensions: height - 157 mm, thickness - 7 mm, width - 75 mm, weight - 172 g.
Display
The Honor V10 has a progressive display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This widescreen screen has a huge 6-inch diagonal. The large matrix also received an increased resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels. The color palette is extremely rich, but if necessary, the shades can be muted a little using manual settings. The brightness is quite enough to use the device in different situations. Durable glass reliably protects the screen, and the oleophobic coating effectively fights fingerprints.
Hardware and performance
The Honor B10 houses a very powerful Kirin 970 processor, which is closely connected with neural networks. Its peak frequency reaches 2400 MHz. Built-in artificial intelligence allows you to intelligently distribute the work of available resources, which has a beneficial effect on optimization. Also, neural technologies are actively used by the processor during camera filming, ideally recognizing specific scenes and situations. The gadget supports memory cards with a capacity of up to 256 GB. The younger version of the smartphone has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. But the older model can boast 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage.
The device initially runs on the Android 8.0 operating system, and the proprietary shell is EMUI 8.0. The graphics are processed by a new generation 3D accelerator Mali-G72MP12. The AnTuTu test results indicate the excellent performance of this smartphone, as it managed to score about 180,000 points. Naturally, this allows the phone to run even the most modern mobile games at the highest possible graphics settings without any problems. The interface and applications are very fast.
Communication and sound
What makes Huawei Honor V10 stand out is the loud sound of the multimedia speaker. The high and mid frequencies are especially well developed. The sound in headphones is quite good, but after manually adjusting the equalizer you can achieve almost perfect results. There is a 3.5 mm audio jack, so you can freely use your favorite wired headset. It is comfortable to talk with your interlocutor; you and he can be heard clearly. The device has an NFC chip and also operates in LTE networks.
Camera
Huawei Honor V10 has a truly advanced dual camera that is capable of shooting at the level of the most expensive and top-end smartphones. It consists of a 16-megapixel color and 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The aperture ratio of 1.8 allows you to easily photograph objects even at dusk. The automation works very well, setting not only the ideal shutter speed, but also sensitivity. The camera focuses really quickly. There is also a 13-megapixel front camera that takes excellent self-portraits. But the lack of optical stabilization is felt when shooting video.
conclusions
If you carefully study the Honor View 10, you can come to the logical and obvious conclusion that for $450 the buyer receives a smartphone with full-fledged flagship hardware without any compromises. It has everything you need, and an additional advantage is the presence of a “neural” processor and a high-quality dual camera.
Pros:
- Powerful processor with support for neural technology.
- Large, bright and widescreen display.
- Excellent dual camera.
- Stylish frameless design.
- Solid battery life.
Minuses:
- Sometimes moisture protection is not enough.
- There is no zest in appearance.
- Fingerprints remain on the back.

What to do if your SIM card is not readable
First, we check whether we inserted the chip into the slot correctly. In general, it’s almost impossible to make a mistake here, but just in case, pull out the tray and take a look. If everything is ok, move the card to the second slot and see if it reads like that. If it reads, it means there is a problem with the previous slot and you need to contact the service center.
It’s not readable - you need to insert the card into any other smartphone and see if it will work there. If not, then there is something wrong with the chip itself. In this case, you need to contact the nearest communication store and write an application for re-issue of the SIM card.
Customizing the Navigation Bar
Using the navigation bar, you can return to the home screen or previous screen, close an application, or view a list of recently used applications. On devices with a front-facing navigation button, the virtual navigation bar is disabled by default. Once the virtual navigation pad is enabled, the front navigation button will be disabled. The device will not respond when you press and hold it or swipe it. To customize the navigation bar, open Settings , select System > System Navigation , then Virtual Navigation Bar . Click Settings to select a button combination.
Show or hide the navigation bar : On the Virtual Navigation Bar tap Settings to turn on the Navigation Bar . Then click on the navigation bar to hide it. When the navigation bar is hidden, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show it.
Back button: Touch to return to the previous screen or close the application. Tap to hide the on-screen keyboard after entering text. Home screen button: Press to return to the home screen. Touch and hold to display the HiVoice icon, swipe up to enable HiVoice features. Browse button: Tap to open a list of recently used applications. Press and hold to enter multi-window mode. Notification panel open button: Click to open the notification panel.
Camera
The quality of photographs that Huawei’s presentation promised is why Honor 9 was replaced with Honor 10:
- main camera 24+16 (compared to 12+20);
- aperture ƒ/1.8 (as opposed to ƒ/2.0, ƒ/2.2);
- presence of dual LED flash;
- front camera 24 MP compared to the pitiful 8 MP Honor 9.
Camera comparison between Honor 10 and 9:
Unfortunately, despite the improved parameters, the camera of the tens disappointed me:
- blurred background just like a 2021 phone looks like the object was cut out with a lasso tool in Photoshop;
- the photo quality is degraded when switching to aperture mode, portrait mode and installing additional functions;
- no optical stabilization;
- Night photography is worse, in my opinion;
- There is no image zoom, like the iPhone, for example.

But an undoubted advantage for photography enthusiasts will be the presence of a smart camera on the Honor 10:
- can identify the subject of shooting (read more about examples of photos taken on Honor 10 in this article);
- adjusts image brightness;
- independently focuses on the desired object;
- determines the nature of the plot;
- highlights several faces in the frame.

Autonomy
Honor 10 has a 3400mAh battery, which is a reasonable minimum for a 19:9 aspect ratio screen with a 5.84-inch diagonal.
The included charger has a fast charging function and is capable of charging a smartphone at 5V with a monstrous current of 4.5A; the included charger also has an unusually thick cable. Thanks to such high charging rates, a smartphone can charge up to 52% in 25 minutes; it will take 1 hour and 27 minutes to fully charge.
Autonomy was measured at 50% screen brightness and 50% sound volume.
Results of achieved autonomy:
— Internet via Wi-Fi 8 hours.
— playback of FullHD movies 9 hours. 14m.
Results achieved in Antutu Tester and PC Mark:
If you use the phone actively, then it is enough for daylight hours. Of course, these are not outstanding indicators and are due to the use of a productive platform and a large screen, but the well-known iPhone 6S in this mode of use had to be additionally charged by the beginning of the evening.
